The History & Society Division at Babson College seeks an Assistant Teaching Professor (non-tenure track) in Environmental Studies to begin in Fall 2025. The discipline and geographical specialization are open with possible strengths in restorative and transformational justice, climate change, urban systems, food and water sustainability, global issues, or environmental activism.

Teaching Professors are non-tenure track, multiyear renewable lines eligible for promotion to Associate and then Full Teaching Professor and for full benefits. The teaching load is six courses (sections) per year.

WHAT YOU WILL DO- Readiness to develop and teach foundation, intermediate and advanced courses to non-majors. One's applied approach will be especially appreciated in a cross-disciplinary problem/solution oriented liberal arts course for first-year students, an intermediate Socio-Ecological Systems course co-taught with a science faculty member.
- Opportunity to design an advanced experiential course with significant interaction with external factors such as NGOs, governmental agencies, entrepreneurs, etc.
- As regular members of the faculty, exhibit a desire to engage with the Babson community to provide both divisional and college-wide service and continue a record of intellectual vitality.
- Assume additional responsibilities as required.
WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED
- Successful candidates will hold a Ph.D., will have evidence of teaching effectiveness, and will demonstrate a commitment to increasing diversity and fostering inclusion in academia.
- The ideal candidate will have an active professional career that demonstrates interest in combining scholarly knowledge with their work with non-governmental or governmental advocacy organizations, interest groups, mutual aid collectives and social support networks. This may include disciplinary and inter-disciplinary research and scholarship concerned with pedagogy.
- Must be an innovative educator whose teaching incorporates inclusive pedagogies and integrates methodologies and theoretical perspectives from multiple liberal arts disciplines.
