Job Description/Primary Purpose:
Responsible for providing quality medical nutrition therapy and related care to the patient’s diagnosis, treatment, age group, nutrition status, and other individualized needs. The dietitian will complete consultations and assessments based on nutritional risks and provide individualized motivational interviewing and/or cognitive behavioral therapy strategies to reduce or eliminate high-risk behaviors and disease.

Essential Functions:
Provide nutrition counseling and education to patient’s individual needs.
Assess the nutritional needs of patients. Develop, implement, and document patient care plans.
Evaluate and assess patient’s nutritional status and improvements.
Collaborate with the Family Health Clinic to coordinate care with patients and work with providers as part of the care management team.
Assist in the development of structured patient education programs which address health needs such as diabetes, hypertension, lipids, GLP-1 support, etc.
Provide care within the scope of license, training, and in accordance with current standards of care.
Prepare, implement, and evaluate ARUP culinary programming.
Develop curriculum and marketing on current nutritional issues and topics based on relevant nutritional research.
Help teach and develop curriculum for Diabetes Prevention Program, Intuitive Eating, and develop other group courses when necessary.
Adhere to the highest standard of clinical practice, ethics, and professionalism at all times.
Encourage adoption of practices and habits that increase health and wellness and improve quality of life.
Provide medical nutrition therapy within the clinic and wellness center.
Educate the ARUP population on food and nutrition issues and topics based on current research.
Support and drives relationship with on campus dining and catering contractor to keep health at the forefront of food choices for employees at work.
Coordinate care with referrals from the Family Health Clinic and Wellness Supervisor on eating disorders and specialty areas of practice.
Assist the Wellness Supervisor with patient care, wellness programing, department outreach, wellness vendors, and other collaborative initiatives as assigned.
Support and assists any additional Health and Wellness programs as required.
Other duties as assigned.
Physical and Other Requirements:
Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Communicate: Frequently and effectively communicate with others.
PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.
ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.
Qualifications
Education
Required
Bachelor's Degree or better in Dietetics.
Experience
Required
Master’s Degree in nutrition, nutrition education, or dietetics from an accredited program by the Commission on Accreditation from Dietetics Education (CADE) and two (2) years of applicable experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in nutrition, nutrition education, or dietetics from an accredited program by the Commission on Accreditation from Dietetics Education (CADE) and four (4) years of applicable experiencee experience Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire Complete a minimum of six (6) months of work in a CADE- accredited practice program Pass the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) test Utah Certified Dietitian (CD)Preferred
Two (2) or more years working with patients in a clinical setting Special interest in GLP-1, diabetes, and weight management care CSOWM (Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management) CDE (Certified Diabetes Educator) One (1) or more years working in corporate wellness settingsLicenses & Certifications
