The Assistant Food and Beverage Manager will oversee the food and beverage areas within the hotel. Responsibilities may include scheduling, forecasting and training, ensuring compliance with federal, state and local laws as well as all operating procedures. This person may also coordinate special events at the hotel. The Assistant Food and Beverage Manager must have strong communication and analytical skills. Food and Beverage cost control experience is helpful.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Food and Beverage Manager in planning, directing, and coordinating all food and beverage operations to ensure high-quality service and profitability.
- Supervise and support food and beverage staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to staff regarding service on the floor, ensuring consistency in delivering exceptional guest experiences.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards in all dining areas.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to maintain menu quality and consistency, ensuring alignment with the resort’s luxury standards.
- Monitor guest satisfaction and address any service issues promptly and professionally.
- Assist in managing budgets, controlling costs, and achieving financial targets for food and beverage operations.
- Oversee inventory management, including ordering and stock control of food, beverages, and supplies.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance the guest dining experience and drive revenue growth.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure high-quality products and timely deliveries.
- Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate innovative ideas to keep the resort’s offerings competitive
WAGE: The hourly range for this opportunity is $24 - $26 per hour. The schedule will typically be 50 hours per week, inclusive of overtime, resulting in an estimated yearly income of $74,375. This is not a guaranteed salary, but an estimate based on a 50-hour weekly work schedule. This is the pay range for this position at Ventana Big Sur, and Alila Resort reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors including experience, and training levels.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in food and beverage management, preferably in a luxury resort or fine-dining setting.
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
- Strong knowledge of food, wine, and beverage service, including current trends in the luxury hospitality sector.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in budgeting, financial management, and cost control.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations and food handling certifications (e.g., ServSafe) is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle challenging situations gracefully.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Wine/beverage knowledge in an upscale environment preferred.
