




Our client, a faith-based publishing company in Nashville, is looking for a Graphic Designer to join their team on a freelance basis, 40 hrs/week, with the potential to become full time starting as soon as identified.
In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be able to work onsite in Nashville at least once per week. Days onsite will be determined once in the seat.
As the Graphic Designer, you will be supporting both the creative and publication teams on the design, formatting, and typesetting of print and digital publications. The Book Designer will also be responsible for designing book covers that align with the vision of the publications.
The Graphic Designer will be responsible for:
- Designing and formatting interior layouts for novels, textbooks, curriculum, and specialty publications
- Creating book covers that are both compelling and marketable that align with brand and marketing strategies
- Ensuring proper typesetting, spacing, and font choice for all content as well as incorporating other text, images, charts, and other elements as needed
- Creating layout templates to be utilized across projects
- Preparing print ready and digital files for submission to printers and eBook platforms ensuring that they meet technical specifications
- Managing multiple projects at a time and finding opportunities to optimize workflows as needed
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of design experience ideally as a book designer, cover designer, or in a similar role within the publishing industry
- Proficient ability working in Adobe InDesign, InCopy, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Microsoft Office
- Working knowledge of of typesetting principles, typography, and formatting standards
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage several priorities at once
- Strong communication and collaboration while working both onsite and offsite
- A creative thinker who can bring new ideas to the table
In this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data. This position is onsite and requires you to work closely with other individuals in a collaborative team environment.
