Senior AWS DevOps Engineer
Location: Remote with Occasional travel to Houston, TX
Schedule: M-F Core Hours
Type: Full Time Direct Hire
Compensation: $150,000 - $220,000

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our growing Operations team. You will design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and automated cloud-based infrastructure using AWS and modern DevOps practices. Collaborating closely with engineers, architects, and security professionals, you’ll be instrumental in building reliable deployment pipelines and ensuring system uptime for our SaaS solutions.
Responsibilities
· Ensure the availability, performance, stability, security, and scalability of our AWS-based production systems.
· Design, implement and maintain automated solutions for deploying, monitoring, and maintaining all environments for our SaaS product suite.
· Troubleshoot and resolve issues within our cloud-based infrastructure in a timely manner.
· Work with the Operations Manager to prioritize system reliability and automation improvements and to define and implement DevOps best practices.
· Collaborate effectively with other DevOps and Product Engineers using clear written and verbal communications.
· Attend regular Operations and (as needed) Product Engineering meetings to support cross-team alignment
· Assist in the planning, implementation, and testing of Business Continuity and Incident Response Plans
· Monitor AWS costs.
· Participate in rotating on-call schedule to ensure smooth operations
Requirements
· 10+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or related roles
· Demonstrated competency and experience with the following AWS services: EKS, ECS, EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, ECR, IAM, and SQS.
· Demonstrated competency and experience in one or more IaC management platforms (e.g., Terraform Cloud, AWS CloudFormation, Ansible)
· Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture and operations in production environments.
· Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or GitLab CI.
· Solid understanding of networking and security best practices
· Solid understanding of observability best practices and tools (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana)
· Experience with scripting languages like Bash and Python.
· Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
· Strong understanding of how to secure AWS environments and meet compliance requirements.
· Experience working in regulated or high-security environments.
· Experience with Flux for GitOps-based Kubernetes deployment workflows.
· Proficiency in Helm for managing Kubernetes packages.
· Strong skills in Ansible for configuration management and automation.
· Experience with AWS Disaster Recovery design and deployment across regions is a plus.
· AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
