Senior Business Systems Analyst

Apex Systems is a global IT services provider and our consulting practice has an opening for 2 Senior Business Systems Analysts who has experience with corporate banking, including deposits, payments, cash management, and liquidity solutions at a Top Five Bank.

Client: Big 5 Canadian Bank

Location: Downtown Toronto - Hybrid (1-2 days a week in office)

Terms: 6 Month Rolling Contract, (1.5 yr project)

Hours: 37.5 hours/week Monday-Friday

Start: June 2025

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a proactive corporate banking, including deposits, payments, cash management, and liquidity solutions and experienced Senior Business Systems Analyst who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments. Youll be instrumental in understanding the intricate world of US corporate client banking behaviors, from deposits and payments to sophisticated cash and liquidity management. This role requires someone who can navigate ambiguity, solve complex challenges, and collaborate effectively across diverse teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Requirements Elicitation & Documentation:
  • Partner with business stakeholders, product owners, and sales teams to thoroughly understand the needs of US corporate clients regarding deposits, payments, cash, and liquidity management.
  • Translate complex business requirements into clear, concise, and comprehensive user stories, functional specifications, and system mapping documentation for a net-new application.
  • Work closely with sales teams to gather "wish list" items and translate them into actionable product features.
  • Domain Expertise & Solution Design:
  • Leverage your deep understanding of US corporate banking practices, including payment messaging standards (SWIFT, FedWire, ACH).
  • Analyze existing manual workflows and envision modern, digital solutions, focusing on client-facing UI and API integrations.
  • Contribute to the design of a "one-stop shop" digital banking experience,
  • Understand how money is received and transferred through various channels, including mobile devices.
  • Technical Collaboration & Integration:
  • Work closely with development teams, QA Leads, and Scrum Masters to ensure requirements are accurately implemented.
  • Facilitate API integrations and data mapping activities, ensuring seamless data flow between systems.
  • Collaborate with the vendor system team, particularly concerning the client-facing user interface.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance:
  • Support the definition of testing strategies and the creation of detailed test cases, ensuring traceability back to original requirements.
  • Collaborate with the QA team to validate new functionalities and data transformations.
  • Stakeholder Management & Problem Solving:
  • Navigate complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Act as a lead BA who is comfortable navigating ambiguity, and solving people-related challenges.
  • Communicate effectively with both business and technical audiences, translating technical complexities into business terms and vice versa.

    Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, with significant experience in cash management banking systems for corporate clients.
  • Demonstrable experience working on application builds or significant modernization projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of US Corporate Banking practices, specifically around deposits, payments, cash management, and liquidity management.
  • Strong understanding of Payment Messaging Standards including SWIFT, FedWire (real-time payments), and ACH (batch payments).
  • Experience with client-facing user interface (UI) requirements for banking applications.
  • Proven ability in API Integrations and Data Mapping.
  • Strong knowledge of relational data model and data manipulations using SQL.
  • Comfortable with creating testing strategies and test cases
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working in an Agile environment.
  • Experience with Confluence and SharePoint for documentation and collaboration.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership, and thrive in a fast-paced, complex project environment.
