About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking an Audit Director who will focus on leading a team responsible for executing Quality Assurance (QA) reviews and monitoring and validation activities. The Audit Director position is a manager of a team of managers and/or individual’s contributors.

The QA function provides independent assurance that Audit has achieved and is maintaining an appropriate standard of audit delivery against the Global Internal Audit Standards, the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (CIIA) Internal Audit Code of Practice, applicable regulatory guidelines, including the FRB Supplemental Policy Statement on the Internal Audit Function and its outsourcing (FRB 13-1), the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency Heightened Standards, and Audit methodology, policies and procedures.


In this role, you will:

  • Manage multiple teams responsible for covering defined segments of the QA Audit Plan

  • Ensure audit plan and engagements are risk-based and executed according to Internal Audit policies and guidance, IIA standards and regulatory guidance

  • Plan and organize quality assurance activities across both individual projects and the broader, multi-year QA program ensuring alignment with Internal Audit’s strategic objectives

  • Prepare and present QA results to senior leadership and external stakeholders

  • Foster a collaborative and forward-thinking QA culture focused on continuous improvement to reflect best-in-class practices

  • Build and maintain proficient leadership teams and prioritize talent development to meet business objectives and strategy

  • Develop and maintain excellent business relationships with Internal Audit leadership and other stakeholders, such as regulatory agencies

  • Manage allocation of people and resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in Audit

  • Represent Internal Audit (IA) and Quality Assurance (QA) as a highly engaged, visible, and influential leader

  • Communicate effectively with senior executives and use the audit role to influence organizational direction

  • Develop a deep understanding of enterprise-wide risks and the processes used to manage them at Wells Fargo

  • Provide leadership on industry best practices and help evolve the audit function

  • Drive continuous improvement and efficiency in QA activities

  • Identify and lead change initiatives to enhance QA review effectiveness and efficiency

  • Promote automation and continuous improvement to the QA team

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of Audit, Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 4+ years of management or leadership experience


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience at a large financial institution

  • A BS/BA degree or higher

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of audit or risk methodologies and supporting tools

  • Strong understanding of financial regulatory environment

  • Demonstrated experience in managing and auditing complex regulatory activities

  • Certification in one or more of the following: CPA, CAMS, CRCM, CIA, CISA or Commissioned Bank Examiner designation


Job Expectations:

  • Ability to travel up to 20%

  • This position does not offer Visa Sponsorship

  • Strong presence in the office at least three days per week

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$173,300.00 - $359,900.00
