The Product Analytics team at Vivint partners with stakeholders across the organization to provide meaningful insight into our products and our customers. We are in an exciting space as we try to understand how people interact with their homes from security and sensors, to lighting and computer vision our team reaches across the organization to provide understanding and insights.

We are seeking a talented Senior Data Scientist to lead our efforts in optimizing and advancing our data-driven initiatives. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in leveraging data-driven insights to enhance the performance, reliability, and scalability of our systems. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop and deploy advanced analytics solutions, drive strategic decision-making, and shape the future of energy management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop models and insights that help drive our energy strategy
  • Leverage data to provide a better home energy experience to customers
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy scalable solutions and integrate analytics into existing systems.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders through clear and compelling visualizations, reports, and presentations.
  • Work closely with product managers and stakeholders to understand business requirements, prioritize projects, and deliver actionable recommendations.

Required Skills:

  • Experience with timestamped event data and common data transformations.
  • Extensive experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches including in the fields of Machine Learning, Statistical Modelling, Forecasting, Energy or other fields
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau) and dashboarding platforms.
  • Highly analytical with strong, demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking capabilities

An understanding of statistical analysis.

  • Proficient in Python and the associated ML / Data science frameworks
  • Proficient in Spark
  • Experience with Advanced Data Models / ML
  • Experience with A/B Testing
  • Proven ability to work across teams and roles


Nice to Have Skills:

  • Knowledge of text analytics and natural language processing (NLP) techniques.
  • Experience working with large language models (LLMs) and their applications in data analysis and decision support systems.
  • Experience with GCP

Required Education/Experience:

  • Graduate Degree in a Quantitative field (Math, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science) or relevant experience.
  • 5+ years work experience.
