Job Summary:

The Market Data Operations Sr. Analyst is accountable for facilitating the successful receipt, loading, and validation of EDI transaction files from the market to ensure timely and accurate billing to our customers. He / She is part of a team that is accountable for processing of 1,000,000 transactions / month which drive the customer enrollment, billing, payment processing, and usage forecasting for 250,000 utility accounts and $6B in annual revenue.

To achieve these deliverables, the Market Data Operations Sr. Analyst will need to develop a detailed understanding of current systems and process and data flows. He/she will work with other team members to continuously identify system, process, and EDI mapping enhancements to reduce manual exceptions and/or errors as well as facilitate successful testing and implementation of those solutions through collaboration with IT teams as well as our EDI vendor. The ideal candidate will have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills in order to successfully facilitate both operational and technical discussions and collaboration.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Work with the other team members and internal stakeholders to identify production issues and/or optimization opportunities that can be addressed through technical solutions including but not limited to Robotics, AI, EDI Mapping updates, automated jobs, or other IT solutioning.
  • Lead and coordinate discussions with impacted users and technical counterparts to strategize and align on optimal solution, timeline, and approach
  • Track and log all production issues and enhancements to ensure proper prioritization, progress tracking, and communication of updates with impacted stakeholders
  • Coordinate UAT testing for all changes prior to implementation, including documenting all required test cases and tracking blockers as well as progress towards completion
  • As required to support the team, assist with working transaction exceptions (i.e. missing, incomplete, invalid) to ensure transactions are loading timely and accurately
  • Ensure operational readiness for new products and new market entries by assisting with implementation strategy and testing
  • Develop and leverage reporting and data to identify trends and issues that need addressed within different utilities or customer types as well as determine root cause
  • Participate in ongoing efforts to define and optimize quality control monitoring activity for the Data Management infrastructure. Create action plans to remediate identified gaps or issues as required.
  • Maintain a current database and working knowledge of each utility's data exchange rules, financial transaction rules, usage formats, and capacity and transmission update schedules.
  • Represent the Market Data team on calls or projects related to any tariff or operational changes planned by the utilities to understand and plan for the impact these changes will have on our internal processes and EDI mappings, and proactively implement the required changes based on the utility go-live date.
  • Engage in any large-scale projects impacting our current processes and/or systems and serve as SME to provide requirements and solutioning for the Market Data team.

Working Conditions:

  • Located in a comfortable office
  • Some overtime required as special projects arise

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Bachelor's in Information Technology or Business Administration is preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in the Energy Sector
  • An effective communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrates expertise in utilizing Microsoft PowerPoint, Visio, Word, Excel preferred
  • Knowledge of managing FTP sites is a plus
  • Understanding of IT Development Life Cycle a plus
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and work in a pressure paced environment
  • Knowledge of utility RTO tariffs and EDI mapping guidelines preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about.
