Position Overview:
The Legal Aid Society of Rockland County is seeking a friendly, organized, and dependable Receptionist/Secretary for our office. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a professional demeanor, and the ability to multitask in a busy legal services environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet clients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
- Answer and route incoming calls; take detailed messages when necessary
- Manage appointment scheduling and maintain accurate logs
- Maintain client confidentiality at all times
- Assist with general clerical duties including data entry, filing, copying, and scanning
- Maintain a neat and welcoming reception area
- Provide administrative support to attorneys and staff as needed
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred
- Prior experience in a receptionist or administrative role, preferably in a legal or nonprofit setting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, and general office equipment
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) required
Work Environment:
This position is fully on-site at our New City office. Standard office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
