The City of Kettering's Planning and Development Department is seeking an exceptional professional to fill the position of full-time Property Maintenance Inspector. The Property Maintenance Inspector conducts field inspections of private property in the enforcement of City Ordinances primarily pertaining to property maintenance and zoning regulations. This position creates and maintains records and performs associated clerical and office tasks pertaining to inspection duties. This position must exhibit and ability to use appropriate tact, apply sound judgement and problem-solving skills and be proficient with the use of computer software. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Chief Code Official.
Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years of experience with enforcement of city codes and be ICC Certified as a property maintenance/housing inspector or able to obtain certification within four (4) months of appointment. Must possess a basic knowledge of construction and related concepts and the ability to read and understand basic construction documents and site plans; must have experience with basic computer software and be able to quickly adapt to changes/updated technology. Knowledge of Accela-based tracking software is preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Ohio driver's license and have a good driving record. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees, volunteers, community organizations and all patrons.
