We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented accounting professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting expertise, analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a dynamic environment. This role will support various financial reporting, technical accounting, and compliance functions while ensuring adherence to U.S. GAAP and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct technical accounting research to address complex accounting issues and support the implementation of new accounting standards.

Prepare selected footnotes and Management's Discussion & Analysis (MD&A) for quarterly and annual financial reporting.

Review a variety of contracts, including single-site acquisition/divestiture agreements, lease agreements, and complex supply and IT contracts. Analyze and document the accounting implications in accordance with GAAP for review by accounting management.

Prepare monthly journal entries supporting multiple areas of the business.

Perform monthly profit & loss (P&L) and balance sheet fluctuation analysis. Collaborate with business partners to identify and document key drivers and business rationale for fluctuations.

Reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis. Ensure timely resolution of reconciling items and effective communication of outstanding issues.

Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) 404 internal control requirements, and internal company policies. Support the self-assessment internal control platform and track key quarterly spreadsheet inventories.

Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial reporting packages for submission to our parent company in Japan (SEJ), including detailed activity schedules.

Prepare and analyze monthly variance reports comparing actuals to the Controller's budget, with delivery on Workday 8.

Review journal entries prepared by our Global Solutions Center (GSC) in India, and prepare related GSC elimination entries.

Maintain and update the Franchise Fee database to reflect new fees, amortization schedules, and terminations.

Prepare the quarterly Technical Accounting Update presentation for internal stakeholders.

Participate in special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as directed by management.

Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to contract review, MD&A preparation, and the evaluation of accounting standards.

Analyze and interpret accounting principles to prepare accurate and insightful financial information, including trend and variance analysis.

Utilize advanced Excel skills to prepare spreadsheets and streamline financial processes through system-driven data imports and exports.

Effectively manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Lead the annual goodwill impairment analysis and coordinate with external auditors throughout the process.

Education:

Masters's degree in accounting or finance and CPA

5+ years of progressive accounting experience

Experience with general ledger functions, reconciliations, financial reporting and MD&A

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, complex formulas)

Strong work ethic, exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
