INTERMEDIATE CHARACTER ARTIST - CSG

Our client is seeking a highly creative and motivated Character Artist. In this position, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality character assets for our projects and developing technical best practices for character tools, pipelines, and systems.

Terms:

• 12-month contract (possible extension)
• Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
• Vancouver, BC

Responsibilities:

• Adhere to the Character Modeling quality bar set by the Art Director and Lead Character Artist.
• Collaborate with the Character Art team to achieve key milestones and deliverables.
• Actively accept feedback from the Art Director and Lead Character Artist.
• Ensure consistency between vision and implementation of game character assets.
• Work with Lead Character Artist and technical teams to develop run-time game character procedures and pipelines.
• Make significant, direct contributions to the creation of character art.
• Work towards established production deadlines.

Must-Have:

1. Must have 3+ years of experience in video games.
2. Exceptional visual and technical understanding in sculpting, 3D modeling, and texturing (both high- and low-resolution characters), and creating “game ready” characters.
3. Proficiency in Maya, Zbrush, Unreal Engine, and Substance Painter.

Additional Requirements:

• Art-related degree and/or comparable professional experience.
• Experience and/or education in sculpting and drawing realistic organic forms with an emphasis on human, biped, and quadruped shapes. Excellent anatomical understanding.
• Experience creating both humans and creatures.
• Experience with Metahuman is a plus.
• Self-motivated and directed.
