Job Description:

The Facility Maintenance Technician/Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation, upkeep, and safety of the company's facilities. This position is responsible for coordinating and overseeing maintenance tasks, managing vendor relationships, and supporting preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime. Working closely with various departments, the Facility Maintenance Coordinator ensures that all building systems, equipment, and infrastructure are properly maintained, comply with safety standards, and function efficiently. This role requires strong organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to facility management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, schedule, and oversee all facility and non-production equipment (air compressors, HVAC, material handling, etc.) maintenance activities, ensuring timely completion.
  • Implement and manage preventative maintenance programs to reduce equipment failures and prolong asset lifespan.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for general maintenance, specialized repairs, inspections, and facility upgrades.
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with OSHA, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain stock of necessary tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies.
  • Address minor repairs and coordinate major facility maintenance needs.
  • Monitor maintenance expenses and seek cost-effective solutions for facility upkeep.
  • Develop and assist in emergency procedures related to facility hazards, power outages, or critical system failures.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, inspections, and work orders.
  • Work with management, department heads, and external teams to ensure maintenance needs are met effectively.
  • Identify methods and areas of improvement in Magpul's safety program.
  • Perform basic facility maintenance both inside and outside the facility, to include some snow removal and ice mitigation tasks.
  • Manage the inventory of spare parts required for MRO operations.
  • Create request for quote (RFQ) packages for bid by suppliers. Work with Purchasing to place purchase orders for needed items.
  • Effectively manage maintenance projects by breaking them into three key phases:
    1. Immediate Response: Identify and address urgent facility needs, prioritizing safety and operational continuity. If the issue poses a hazard or disrupts operations, initiate immediate triage solutions.
    2. Short-Term Resolution: Implement corrective measures that minimize downtime and eliminate safety risks, ensuring a stable and functional environment.
    3. Long-Term Prevention: Develop and execute strategic solutions that target the root cause, preventing recurrence and enhancing the facility's overall reliability.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations. Acknowledges safe behavior and promotes a positive working relationship with other departments.
  • Maintain a clean working area with a focus on proper housekeeping and organization of maintenance areas.
  • This position will be on-call for off-hour facility emergencies, alarm events, and weather events. Weekend shifts may occasionally be required if work needs to be completed during off hours.
  • Ability to use common warehouse equipment and tools, including hand tools, powered tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse and manufacturing environment (temperature changes, dust, equipment, etc.)
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 55 lbs.
  • Ability to work overtime when required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree from a recognized training facility in Industrial Maintenance or Facility Maintenance preferred (may be offset by experience).
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in facility maintenance.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to change direction and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks.
  • Must be able to communicate and prioritize diverse projects with vendors and suppliers.
  • Must have the mindset to find the true root cause of the problem vs. a quick Band-Aid fix.
  • Must be proficient with basic computer programs (MS Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision and capable of self-checking for completeness and accuracy of work produced.
  • Must be a dynamic, self-starter with a continual improvement mindset.

Additional:

  • This position reports to the Vice President of Manufacturing Operations.
  • Competitive pay commensurate to experience.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States for any employer. The applicant must be authorized to receive Technical Data and/or Technology under U.S. export control laws. Any offer made is contingent on the applicant passing a background check that will include a restricted party screening and, for prospective employees who are Foreign Persons, on the Company obtaining all necessary export licenses. In addition, the applicant will be required to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
