BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:   

This job is responsible for growing the Company’s firm and/or transport sales book in a designated territory.  The primary territory is Georgia, with additional territories possibly including Florida, Illinois, Ohio, and Michigan. The job requires a strong working knowledge of the natural gas industry and particularly as it relates to firm small business, firm large business and large transport clients.  The position will interact with both prospective and existing clients with the primary intention of selling natural gas on a contract basis and maximizing gross margins.  The position will also interact with third party consultants.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. 
  • Preferred 3-5 years of experience in the energy business, or comparable field.
  • Preferred 2 years of direct sales experience within the energy segment.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Proven record of outstanding sales and account development.
  • Strong communication skills.  Must be able to communicate in a positive and professional manner with clients, co-workers, and vendors.
  • Minimal supervision is required. Must demonstrate the ability to work independently yet operate effectively as a team player.  Must be self-motivated.
  • If needed, must be able to travel to client locations with personal vehicle.
  • Impeccable client service and results oriented.
  • Working knowledge Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce CRM system.
  • General knowledge of revenue cost structure and financial drivers in the energy industry.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Act as primary point of contact for new and existing clients while building long-term relationships.
  • Utilizes current or new techniques to strengthen the relationship with current clients and facilitate future sales opportunities.
  • Leverages existing relationships to grow Company’s market share in a designated market.
  • Prospect and close new business opportunities through cold calling and networking that will generate gross margin and market share for the Company.
  • Manage 3rd party channel acquisition relationship, ensuring maximum profitability with efficient use of resources.
  • Utilizes pricing models for rate quotes based on Company policy and procedure.   
  • Originates, negotiates, and closes contracts, leveraging the trading and marketing capabilities of the Company.
  • Effectively manages sales pipeline by identifying prospects, researching, and analyzing sales opportunities and existing account planning processes.
  • Recommends, develops, and implements approved selling strategies.
  • Assists management in developing sales tools and tracking to support client acquisition.
  • Utilizes Salesforce to manage sales opportunities.  Ensures that account information is complete and entered in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Keep abreast of industry development; stay involved in industry activities through participation in trade shows, industry associations and industry functions.
  • Promotes the Company’s marketing and sales programs. 
  • Transitions client base to more profitable products and services. 
  • Provides feedback to management on market developments, trends, and competitive issues. 
  • Ensures base contracts are accurate and updated.
  • Serves as liaison between clients and appropriate departments and support functions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to operate a vehicle; to sit; use hands; and talk and hear.  The employee will be required to travel frequently (30%-50%) often using his or her personal vehicle. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stays away from home for one or more nights. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and reach with and arms.  The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 10 pounds.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
