The Senior Financial Analyst – Inventory Costing will prepare and analyze monthly inventory accounting, reporting, and other related activities for the North America Business Unit’s Phosphate and Potash segments. This includes analysis and journal entry preparation of all of Mosaic’s North America Phosphates and Potash inventory activity, including costing and associated cost of goods sold, with emphasis on both balance sheet and income statement activity and analysis. The Senior Financial Analyst – Inventory Costing will also partner with the EBS Inventory and Plant Finance COE teams to ensure proper valuation of Phosphates and Potash inventory and will provide timely analysis to key business partners in this regard. They will also be responsible for leading the coordination of various Inventory SOX controls for the North America Phosphates and Potash Business Units and will assist both internal and external auditors on North America Phosphates and Potash Inventory audit requests and analysis. Other specific analytical responsibilities will include Inventory Balance Sheet Fluctuation, identification and analysis of cost of goods sold, and other supplemental analytics as directed by leadership and other key business partners. They will also create, manage, and drive special projects for process improvements and changes in technical accounting requirements.
What will you do?
Analysis and journal entry preparation of all of Mosaic’s North America Phosphates and Potash inventory activity, including costing and associated cost of goods sold
Completion of Inventory SOX controls for the North America Phosphates and Potash Business Units, along with assisting both internal and external auditors on North America Phosphates and Potash Inventory audit requests and analysis
Responsible for maintaining SOX controls.
Provide audit support.
Create, manage, and drive special projects for process improvements and changes in technical accounting requirements
Complete ad-hoc request as needed.
Be vigilant of issues and conditions that can affect their fellow workers.
Report any issues that can impact the environment or the safety of the employees.
What do you need for this role?
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance or related field required.
CPA or equivalent certification preferred
4+ years of finance, accounting, or financial analysis experience OR
2+ years of experience with prior experience at Deloitte, Ernst and Young, KPMG or PwC in similar role
Excellent understanding and familiarity with GAAP and the ability to apply these principles in practice
Strong working knowledge of financial and accounting concepts and practices
Broad understanding of internal controls
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead through influence and network
