




Job title: R&D Technician I
Department / Division: Nutrition Product Development / Nutrition Center of Excellence
Salary Range $23.94/hr – $30.98/hr
Location: Ada, Michigan (Onsite)
What we’re looking for:
We are looking for an Research and Development (R&D) Technician to join the Product Development team in Ada. Your job will be to conduct trials on the products designed by our scientists. Working in our pilot lab facility, you will receive informal direction from both scientists and engineers who work in the lab.
Day to day, you will be:
- Collecting raw materials based on a set formula
- Blending the materials
- Performing testing on the mix, from .5 kilogram batches up to 20 kilogram batches
- Recording observations
- Submitting sample of the mix back to the scientist
You will have your own workstation and will be instructed on all the tools necessary to conduct the testing.
To be successful in this role, you must have the ability to organize and document your findings clearly and in accordance with GMP standards. You’ll be measured on your ability to deliver useful observations and deliver tests quickly, while still continuing to learn.

Required Qualifications:
- 1 year of manufacturing experience, with knowledge of related equipment (blenders, mixers, packaging)
- Experience with Solid Dose Manufacturing a plus (tableting, compressions, coating, etc)
- Experience working with GMP standards, as well as 5S and Kaizen standards
- Experience in cleaning processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft office applications (Word, Power Point, Excel, etc.)
Skills to be successful in the role:
- Demonstrated attention to detail with the ability to file detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Experience producing effective documentation
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to prioritize

The Innovation and Science team supports the development of new products for our manufacturing operations across the globe. This team of five works in our Nutrition pilot plant with prototype formulations, processing new products for development with packaging development support. This is a cool opportunity to be on the very front end of product development, working with new product creations. In addition to supporting product sampling and testing, this team ensures proper development an adherence to finished product specifications.
