The Role:

We’re seeking a passionate and dedicated Regulatory Compliance Advisor who brings energy and expertise to the table. In this role, you’ll act as a technical liaison between other Toyota Industries companies, third-party test laboratories, and cross-functional teams across Toyota Material Handling North America (TMHNA).

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Demonstrate and maintain deep expertise in current and emerging emissions regulations (EPA, CARB, ECCC).
  • Translate regulatory requirements into actionable technical, business, and process requirements.
  • Monitor, track, and communicate changes in emissions regulations across the organization.
  • Maintain an organized, up-to-date repository of applicable regulations.
  • Provide emissions-related guidance and technical support to internal teams and inter-company partners.
  • Provide technical support to the corporate legal staff or outside legal counsel on possible product problems and claims.
  • Support TMHNA Design Review Process to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
  • Regularly review and update Standard Operating Procedures and Process Maps to reflect regulatory changes.
  • Guide the development of emissions test plans (e.g., engine dyno, PEMS) and conduct test cell audits.
  • Analyze emissions data associated with certification activities.
  • Lead process development and continuous process improvement activities necessary to remain compliant with different regulations.
  • Support development and deliver training content to ensure understanding of emissions requirements across the organization.
  • Develop detailed plans for regular audits at different departments to ensure compliance with emissions regulatory requirements. 
  • Foster and maintain strategic relationships with regulatory bodies and industry associations.
  • Manage agency interactions, including certifications, audits, renewals, and ongoing correspondence.
  • Coordinate and prepare responses to regulatory agency inquiries.
  • Represent TMHNA in industry working groups, committees, and standards development organizations.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Design, or a related field.
  • Experience in engine systems, off-road equipment, emissions certification, and testing.
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. EPA and CARB emissions regulations.
  • Hands-on experience with engine testing equipment, software, and tools.
  • Proven ability to lead and work within cross-functional teams; experience in training others.
  • Strong technical background with skills in process mapping, improvement, and implementation.
  • Excellent research and analytical abilities; capable of linking regulatory requirements to business priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and technical documentation tools.
  • Ability to clearly summarize and communicate complex technical topics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; effective collaborator across departments.
  • Self-motivated and committed to driving sustainable compliance and continuous improvement.

What Sets You Apart:

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Environmental, Design, or similar field.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of internal combustion engines, engine emissions, after treatment function and components.
  • 10+ years’ work experience in engine emissions development or emissions certification related field.

Where and When You’ll Work:

Enjoy the best of both worlds with a hybrid schedule—collaborate in person at our Columbus, IN office and work remotely two days per week!

  • Travel involvement – 0-25%, primarily domestic.

What Your Total Compensation & Benefits Package will look like:

Salary - $118,590.00 - $152,040 per year. Compensation depends on the selected candidate’s education and experience.

Relocation: This role may be eligible for relocation assistance.
