The Senior Director of Marketing Strategy & Communications serves as a key leader responsible for driving firm-wide marketing strategy, leading growth initiatives, and managing all internal and external communications. This individual provides strategic oversight across marketing operations and business development pursuits, ensuring alignment with the firm's long-term vision and objectives.
This role requires deep expertise in professional services marketing, including brand positioning, internal corporate communications, and public relations. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned strategist and team leader with a proven track record of advancing high-impact initiatives in complex, multi-disciplinary environments.
Essential Functions
Strategic Planning & Market Research
* Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies in partnership with Business Development leadership to support key market sectors.
* Lead long-term strategic planning, market research, and competitive analysis to identify growth opportunities.
* Promote integration and synergy across practice areas, aligning marketing goals with firm-wide initiatives.
* Drive the development of cross-market strategies to support diversification and innovation.
Pursuit Strategy & Lifecycle Management
* Oversee pursuit strategy and execution across the opportunity lifecycle-from pre-positioning through final selection.
* Guide the development of high-impact qualifications, proposals, and interview preparation.
* Identify key business development opportunities in collaboration with firm leadership.
* Direct outreach efforts, manage pipeline activity, and ensure coordinated pursuit strategies.
* Lead client feedback initiatives, including surveys and debriefs, to refine and improve business development efforts.
Public Relations & Communications
* Lead the integration of communications, marketing, and public relations to enhance brand visibility and support business objectives.
* Develop and oversee comprehensive communications and PR strategies to elevate the Firm's reputation and market presence.
* Guide content development initiatives, including media relations, blog posts, white papers, award submissions, thought leadership, and more.
* Drive brand strategy across sectors and markets, ensuring cohesive and compelling storytelling across all channels.
* Provide creative direction for multimedia content, including video, podcasts, and motion graphics.
* Cultivate strong relationships with local and national media to secure high-impact features and coverage.
* Actively engage with industry associations to expand the firm's influence and visibility.
Team Leadership & Operational Management
* Lead and mentor a high-performing marketing team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
* Provide clear direction, regular feedback, and professional development opportunities to team members.
* Oversee the development and execution of proposals and marketing deliverables to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with strategy.
* In partnership with the CFO, develop and manage the annual marketing budget to optimize resource allocation.
* Ensure alignment of marketing activities with overall firm goals and priorities.
Additional Responsibilities
* Support internal marketing initiatives and firmwide communications as needed.
* Perform other related duties as assigned to support the broader mission of the Firm.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
* Minimum of 10 years of experience leading multidisciplinary marketing teams in a professional services environment.
* Demonstrated success in developing and executing integrated marketing strategies and campaigns.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite.
* Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
* Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
* Strategic thinker with a collaborative, results-oriented mindset.
* Strong business acumen and analytical thinking.
* High attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
* Demonstrated ability to provide excellent internal and external client service.

Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in the architecture, engineering, or construction (AEC) industry.
* Expertise in brand marketing and brand strategy development.
* Working knowledge of public relations practices and media strategy.
* Experience in multimedia storytelling and content production.
