The Marketing and Communications Specialist plays a key role on the FHLB Des Moines Marketing and Communications (MarComm) team. This role helps execute an external communications plan promoting the Bank and its products and ensures all stakeholders have timely, relevant notifications and information from the Bank. The Marketing and Communications Specialist collaborates closely with members of the Member Solutions and Strategies, Community Investment and Mortgage Partnership teams, as well as internal partners from various member-facing departments (and Human Resources) to conceive, plan and produce effective and efficient print and digital communications for a variety of channels.

Under the guidance of the Director of Marketing and Communications and/or the Marketing and Communications Manager, the Marketing and Communications Specialist helps create and manage the FHLB Des Moines meeting promotions, executive-level communications and content related to social media, trade associations and internal business-related communications. This position is also responsible for ensuring the cohesiveness of the written, visual and experiential components of the Bank’s brand.

Accountabilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with other members of the team, assist with the implementation of an integrated plan for overall member communications including required notifications and updates, marketing messages, and product related communications utilizing the most efficient and effective channels.
  • Collaborate with business partners from a variety of departments to develop effective member communications to drive demand for Bank products, services and solutions.
  • Coordinate with team members to execute social media strategies ensuring the messages are relevant and timely.
  • Manage content library and apply information across digital communication efforts such as website content, social media initiatives as well as email nurture and lead-gen campaigns.
  • Produce and edit external-facing emails, articles, videos and other communications that support the Bank’s overall brand strategy.
  • Support Bank events and promotions.
  • Monitor, analyze and report campaign performance along with traditional and social media mentions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications or related field or work commensurate with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2+ years of professional marketing and communications experience required, preferably with experience in a highly regulated industry
  • Prefer experience/knowledge related to financial institutions, GSEs and/or housing finance-related entities.
  • A skillful writer with excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail. Has a solid working knowledge of Associated Press standards.
  • Experience with photography and videography (including editing) preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines and handle ambiguity.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with social media platforms.
  • Proven experience developing marketing plans and campaigns.
  • Self-starter, equally willing to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Creative thinker who is flexible and open to change.
  • Ability to build relationships and work well with team members and internal business partners, including executive level.
  • Experience with major email marketing platforms and understanding of email automation tools.
  • Experience in B2B marketing and communications preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics.

Compensation Range:

Annual Salary: $64,256.00 - $76,304.00

This salary range represents the Bank’s good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of hire. Offer to be determined by selected applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills & abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. This role is also eligible to participate in the Bank’s annual incentive plan.

Most roles are eligible for our hybrid work schedule of 3 days per week in office, 2 days per week work-from-home.
