Summary:
- Provides high quality, timely, professional and effective leadership, development and training to the cleaning staff. Communicates and cooperates between/among all our internal and external customers in meeting our mission of providing a clean, safe environment and outstanding customer service always.
Responsibilities:
1. Work Organization
a. Organizes own work activities to ensure their proper completion in a timely manner
- Completes tasks dispatched through EPIC/Bed tracking system, area projects and need of correction lists as assigned by supervisor
- Follows area assignments
- Replenish supplies, such as linens and bathroom items, paper products and sanitizer/soap
- Keep storage areas and cart well-stocked, clean, tidy and stored in a secured location when not in use
- Ensure all equipment is in working condition
- Assists in training new EVS aide employees
- Sort soiled laundry and clean linen using the correct carts, supplies, etc.
- Schedules own time effectively by assigning priorities to daily, weekly or monthly work activities
- Avoids crises through systematic planning and follow-up
- Follow all area assignments as close as possible
- Respond to changes to meet the needs of facility and customers
2. Problem Solving
- Resolve problems relating to work assignments, departmental functioning and/or departmental services in a timely and effective manner
- Recognizes problems quickly and/or reviews records to identify recurrent problems
- Researches questions/problems concerning the services of the department to determine possible solutions
- Identifies and uses resources available to aid in resolving problems
- Takes immediate action to correct any unsafe situation that is observed, such as water on the floor/debris on floor, etc.
3. Ensures a safe and clean environment
- Follows all safety, infection control and Housekeeping policies and procedures
- Customer interviews are performed
- Dust and polish furniture and equipment
- Perform housekeeping duties in work area, including cleaning work surfaces and floors
- Sweep/scrub the floors using brooms, mops, and using only approved cleaning solutions
- Clean rugs and carpet using vacuum cleaners and shampooers
- Scrub/sweep, rinse and do detail cleaning of walls, baseboards, corners and edges, doors, etc., per schedule daily or as needed
- Clean and polish stainless steel as needed
- Wash windows, walls ceilings, and woodwork, waxing and polishing as necessary
- Spot clean walls, door frames, and hinges daily
- Operate the compactors in the correct, safe and clean manner.
- Clean beds, mattress, frame, bed rails, etc. and make bed with clean linen on discharge/transfers
- Clean light lens and ceiling tracks per schedule or as assigned
- Receives 90% or higher on all black light quality inspections consistently.
- Determines which disinfectant product to use based on signage on patient room door or notification received from nursing in other areas, etc.
- Ensures that contacts with other healthcare team members are friendly, helpful and courteous always
- Ensures all cleaning chemicals are correctly used and safe for the environment
- Ensures all cleaning activities are done at the most safe and convenient times possible for all customers
- Follows all cleaning techniques such as 7 step cleaning process.
- Must also follow all Customer service initiatives daily to have best impact possible on HCAHPS and all patients we serve
- Universal precautions and isolation procedures are followed
- Safety precautions are followed, and all waste is disposed of properly
- Ensures all patient interviews are documented; check sheets and project cards are completed, and all patient concerns are resolved
- Clean assigned rooms and areas in a timely and safe manner with bed turn times under 30 minutes for normal room cleans and 60 minutes for isolation discharge room cleans
- Uses approved equipment and supplies for each task
- Removes trash and waste from assigned areas, using the correct container, procedures and correctly disposed
- Meets Customer Needs
- All duties/jobs are performed in the most efficient time, and thorough manner.
- Identify needs and prioritize.
- Notifies supervisor of vents needing work order
- Answer rover ASAP to coordinate room cleaning, emergency projects and requests
- Responds in a professional and friendly manner to all requests.
- Prioritize all work to meet and exceed all customer needs.
- Remains responsive to patients, visitors, staff and co-workers when in need of assistance, and information within limits of position
5. Maintains Open Communication
- Collaborates and coordinates with other individuals and departments in fulfilling needs and requests.
- Participate in meetings.
- Answers telephone courteously and transfers calls or respond to inquiries accurately
- Performs 3 patient room contacts each day to increase visibility and availability of services we provide to our patients
- All assigned bed tracking jobs are handled promptly to update bed tracking system
- Cooperate and communicate with all staff effectively and politely
- Communication is clear and complete.
- Response to requests is handled promptly in a professional and friendly manner.
- Maintains confidentiality as appropriate.
6. Produces check sheets, patient interviews, and project reports.
- Do accurate check sheets, reports and interviews
- Maintains records as instructed, i.e. rooms check sheets, discharge logs, patient interviews, etc.
- Writes concise, accurate, and organized reports, notes and correspondence
- Daily reports, interviews and check sheets are completed daily

- High School Diploma
- EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of two years in a housekeeping /custodial capacity at LMH or another health/patient care facility
- LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION
- Certificate of completion Hospitality Training
