ABOUT THE POSITION
There is currently one (1) Full Time Department Analyst I/II vacancy in the Department of Public Works . Candidates will be considered for the level (s) for which they meet minimum qualifications.
The Department Analyst I/II resides in the Department of Public Works, Accounting & Budget Division and is under the general direction of the Administrative Services Director. The Department Analyst I/II will work closely with various program/project managers, division managers, and lead staff for the Capital Improvement, Road Program, and Water Resources/Flood Control, and internal/external agencies to ensure compliance and efficiency of programs, systems, and departmental operations.ABOUT YOU
Our highly qualified candidate is highly organized, has exceptional attention to detail, strong time management skills, possesses excellent written and oral communication skills, is an analytical thinker, proactive, flexible in their approach to their work, and can solve problems creatively. The candidate will need to have experience with working successfully in a team environment and will also need to work independently. This person must develop and maintain positive working relationships with everyone. Our ideal candidate knows what it takes to manage a successful project. We are looking for someone to support the development in support of work plan processes, including identifying and developing clear priorities.
The highly qualified candidate must have a strong knowledge/experience in ERP, Cost Accounting and Project Management systems, and experience with preparing governmental accounting and financial reporting.- KNOWLEDGE OF
- Principles and practices of business and public administration.
- Principles and practices of work planning, data collection and analysis, project management and research methodology.
- Applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
- ABILITY TO
- Plan, organize, and conduct research and analytical studies.
- Interpret, apply and explain laws, regulations and policies governing program operations.
- Prepare clear, concise and accurate reports, correspondence, policies, procedures and other written materials.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including other departments, community members and organizations, public and private agencies, and local, state and federal agencies.
- Effectively represent assigned programs, the department and County in meetings and presentations.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES
Department Analyst I: Equivalent to graduation from a four year college or university with a major in business or public administration, public policy, political science, social services, health care administration or a field related to the work. Professional level experience performing administrative, analytical, fiscal, legislative, operational, policy, program planning or research work may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Department Analyst II: In addition to the above, two years of professional level experience performing administrative, legislative, operational and/or policy analysis; program or project design, planning and implementation; research analysis; strategic planning; or closely related work.
