
Position Summary: The School of Health Sciences in the College of Health and Human Sciences (CHHS) at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIU Carbondale) is seeking qualified applicants for an Assistant Lecturer/Assistant Professor of Practice position within the School of Health Sciences for the Counseling and Rehabilitation Education (CARE) graduate program. Specializations in: Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, and Addictions Counseling. Position(s) begin on or after August 12, 2025. The intent of this announcement is to identify a pool of non-tenure-track faculty for the CARE program. These are variable-time, term, non-tenure-track positions that are contingent on available funding and enrollment. Instructional opportunities and significant service roles in grants and program administration are also options for assignment. Reappointment is possible based on performance, programmatic need and budget availability.
This position is a variable appointment, with salary calculated based on FTE percentage of appointment. The target full-time salary offer is $54,000.00. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. Examples of Duties:
1. Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success.
2. Teaches hybrid, synchronous and asynchronous online courses, and/or in person courses depending on scheduling.
3. To participate in and complete course assessment activities (as CACREP requires) as applicable for the courses taught in the CARE program.
4. To engage in other duties as assigned by the Director of the School of Health Sciences.
5. Possibility of become a Program Coordinator or Director.
6. Possibility of coordinating a grant in counseling and addictions.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's or Doctoral degree in counselor education, rehabilitation education, addictions counseling and/or other related behavioral health studies. For individuals holding a Master's degree, the appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Lecturer. For individuals holding a Doctoral degree, the appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice.
- Licensure and certification (LCPC, and/or CRCC, and/or CADC) is required to teach graduate level courses and to supervise graduate level clinical experiences.
- Experience with, or the knowledge and ability to create, capture and deliver high quality learning content using online learning management systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in teaching and clinical supervision is preferred.
- Experience in individual and group counseling methods is preferred.
- Experience in managing digital platforms.
- Experience and knowledge of CACREP standards and assessments process.
