What You'll Do

The Office of Undergraduate Programs also provides community outreach programs to high school students, community college students, and University of Michigan freshman. As an
admissions officer, you would execute a high level high-level of professionalism and customer service to prospective students seeking admission to the Ross School of Business, while also
providing program support in application review, event management, and recruitment. You will report to a Ross Assistant Director and supports the Preferred First-Year Admission, Transfer Admission, and Minor in Business Minor admission processes.

Responsibilities*

  • Serve as the first line of contact for Ross Undergraduate Admissions, executing a highly efficient and large volume student service interface to handle incoming calls, voice mail, email, and written inquiries simultaneously to provide information on admission requirements, policies, procedures, and application status
  • Provide information in a  drop-in type format for university guests, prospective and current students, and families who show up unannounced and are looking to receive a quality visit experience
  • Update all recruitment and prospect rosters as necessary, including working with Ross ITS to maximize roster usage and the check-in tools utilized during information sessions and workshops
  • Provide support for admissions events on and off campus, including monitoring a registration system for information sessions, scheduling personalized visits and tours, reserving rooms, communicating with guests about parking, hotel, and travel arrangements, and campus resources
  • Provide Ross admission tours of Ross facilities and buildings to university guests, current and prospective students, and their families
  • Compile, track, and scan communications and application materials received by applicants to ensure that any additional information provided is sorted, documented, and escalated to the appropriate admission review committee member
  • Assist with communications related to the application and enrollment process, including communications regarding missing application credentials, to ensure that applications are complete, decision letters, and enrollment confirmations
  • Assist in the processing of international documentation and the undergraduate student visa transfer process
  • Respond to and schedule current student FERPA requests and appointments as dictated by the university records policy
  • Assist Ross ITS with testing of the Admission systems to ensure functional specifications are met
  • Perform initial screening of approximately 5,000 applications for transfer and outreach programs, verifying transcripts, and providing the admission review team with a summarization of optional essay responses and whether pre-requisites were met
  • Review, read, and rate first-year admission applications as a first reviewer during peak reading season
  • Additional proofreading assignments and Admissions manual updates

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Customer service or quality management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to provide data analysis, including spreadsheet management and proficiency with basic Microsoft Office or Google Suites

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Additional Information

The posting range for this position is $45,100 - $53,000. This posting range reflects multiple factors involved in determining compensation, such as skills, experience, training, certifications, and other organizational needs. At Ross, it is not common for new hires to be offered a salary at the upper end of the range. Compensation decisions are based on the details of each situation.
