





Project Manager (Atlanta, GA or Birmingham, AL)
SCS Technical Shared Services (TSS), Project Center of Excellence Department
This position is flexible to be located in either Atlanta, GA (Forest Park office) or Birmingham, AL (The Energy Center)
SUMMARY OF POSITION DUTIES
This position will assist project managers and leaders through project delivery using his/her education and experience; knowledge of policies, procedures, and guidelines; and relationships with project teams and support groups throughout TSS and Power Delivery to influence successful project outcomes.
Some of the job responsibilities for this position include:
- Develop and sustain continuous improvement to the project delivery process through feedback and evaluation
- Provide governance to the project delivery process
- Identify potential project risks and documentation gaps, escalating issues as needed
- Lead and support training sessions both one-on-one and large groups
- Evaluate existing business processes and perform workflow analysis to provide Technical Shared Services and Power Delivery resources with recommendations for increasing efficiency and improving quality in the engineering processes
- Develop an understanding of the Transmission Technical Shared Services and Power Delivery organization’s objectives, engineering processes, and desired outcomes
- Supporting project benchmarking efforts through internal and external surveys and assessments
- Supporting lessons learned program by coordinating global lessons learned/best practices, generating reports, and creating alerts
- Developing relationships with Power Delivery project managers to support the needs of the project team while maintaining the discipline needed of a project delivery process
- Align organizational process strategy with the needs of the customer
- Work extensively with customers to align priorities, define improvement opportunities and drive change
- Work closely with subject matter experts to ensure all enhancement activities are sustainable and achieved efficiently
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education & Work Experience:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Engineering, Construction, or Business degree would be a plus
- Experience working in a heavy industrial environment is required (i.e. Power Generation, Construction, Pulp/Paper, Chemical, etc.)
- Six Sigma, CAPM, or PMP Certification is a plus
- Experience and involvement with industry organizations such as PMI, CII, IPA and CURT are preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must possess the ability to build strong working relationships with internal departments and other project interfaces
- Working knowledge of process management software such as Visio, Smartsheet, Minitab, P6, Power BI, and MS Project
- Excellent verbal, written, and team building skills - Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
- Solid multi-tasking, time management and critical thinking skills
- Emerging leadership skills in an engineering environment
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written are required
- Ability to manage multiple customers simultaneously while maintaining/building good relationships
- Must be flexible, adapting easily to changing priorities
- Demonstrated business acumen, and success working with all levels of an organization
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Up to 25% travel is required for site visits and peer information-sharing forums
