Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world’s leading global law firms, with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking to hire a Sr. Paralegal that would report to the Senior Manager of Legal Practice Support. Our internationally-recognized immigration practice is dynamic and collegial, with excellent opportunities for professional growth, and the tools and support of one of the world’s largest full-service law firms.

This position assists attorneys, account managers and case managers with the preparation and filing of nonimmigrant and immigrant petitions. The position requires substantive knowledge of immigration law and processes. It exhibits basic strategic thinking and initiative with respect to case and project management, communicates to supervisors fully and in a timely manner status of task completion and new developments, applies good skills of legal research, writing and analysis. The position may manage the caseload and status expirations for smaller clients.

Based in either our Washington DC, Dallas, or Miami office, this position offers a flexible, hybrid in-office/remote working arrangement which allows for you to work 3 days collaboratively in the office and 2 days remotely.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist attorneys with the preparation and filing of a broad range of immigrant and non-immigrant petitions such as PERM cases, I-140 EB-1/2/3, AOS, H-1B, L-1, E-1/2/3, O-1, J-1 etc.

• Written and oral communication with clients to gather needed information and documents required for the preparation of petitions and applications.

• Ensure that clients are kept apprised of the progress of their cases.

• Respond to immigration inquiries in a timely manner.

• Enter, update, and maintain data in immigration case management system.

• Manage caseload and timely completion of work.

• Track and manage critical deadlines.

• Run active cases workload and client NIV expiration reports in immigration case management system.

• Attend team meetings and continue educational programs/seminars.

• Enter and close time entries in the firm’s time recording system.

• Apply understanding of legal and ethical principles that guide paralegal conduct, including, but not limited to the unauthorized practice of law, confidentiality and attorney-client privilege, conflicts of interest, GDPR compliance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Applicant has to have at least 2 years of business immigration experience and strong writing skills. Experience with I-140 EB-1, O-1 petitions and PERM applications preferred.

For positions in Washington, DC the salary range for this position is $72,200.00 - $115,550.00.

The base salary or hourly wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position" and the firm reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, firm or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
