
THE ROLE
The Head of Data & Analytics is responsible for MFS' data and analytics (D&A) platform and eco system to drive value for all lines of business and clients. This includes the acquisition, creation and management of the firm's data and analytics strategy, and the execution of related multi-year initiatives and practices that drive measurable business outcomes. This role involves establishing, leading and operating the D&A function; developing talent and mature D&A culture; building trust and managing data; and evolving technology capabilities. The Head of Data and Analytics is a strong advocate for the strategic and practical significance of data across the organization and enables a critically important capability for the firm.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Define data and analytics vision, strategy and associated practices. Lead the creation, and assure the ongoing stability/relevance/maintenance, of the organization's global data and analytics strategy in collaboration with the Enterprise Leadership Team (ELT) and other senior leaders.
- Work to create "Data as an Asset" for the firm and build process, technology and operating model to enable the trust in every dataset and analytics and make data available to all users
- Institute global end to end operating model for data and analytics that is consistent with the capabilities, structure, and competencies required to execute the strategy.
- Maintain accountability for exploiting the value of enterprise information assets, and of the analytics used to generate insights for decision making, automated decisions and augmentation of human performance. Be the corporate leader of data-driven insights and use cases that help support the exploitation of strategic and tactical business opportunities.
- Build partnerships with executive leadership and other key stakeholders to establish the vision for managing data environment, data vendors, data integration and data capabilites - to exploit data and analytics capabilities to maximize the value derived from data assets and corresponding end-to-end workflows across each line of business.
- Foster the creation of a data-driven culture, related competencies and data literacy across the enterprise. Lead these transformation efforts by developing D&A talent and maturing the capability of the organization.
- Oversee delivery models, methods and practices for creation of data products and to ensure consistent application and use of data and analytics solutions.
- Establish and maintain trust in data assets by instituting governance mechanisms for data, algorithms and AI used for analysis, analytical applications and automated decision making.
- Lead data-driven innovation for the enterprise, including investigation, adoption and exploitation of artificial intelligence and digital business transformation.
- Lead research, strategy creation and development of new data products or services to expand markets and products.
- Expand the organization's research and analytics offerings, especially in emerging analytical approaches, skills and technologies, data science and artificial intelligence, focusing on accelerating digital business innovation, business intelligence and transformation.
- Identify new kinds, types and sources of trusted data to enable business value innovation throughout the organization.
- Create and oversee a centralized data management service for sourcing external data to ensure quality, traceability, timeliness, usability and cost-effectiveness.
- Define processes for the effective, integrated introduction of new data and datasets, responsible for the integration, acquisition, and management of 3rd party data and data providers.
- Oversee the development and deployment of the enterprise's data and analytics platform and architecture for digital business. Responsible for the target enterprise D&A and information architecture and corresponding enterprise D&A technology portfolio.
- Develop, manage, allocate and govern the annual budget for the office of Enterprise Data Management. Responsible for the prioritization of firmwide data development efforts and ensuring alignment of the work to firmwide strategic priorities.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- A bachelor's or master's degree in business administration or a data and information related field
- 15+ years experience in an investment management or financial services data-oriented management role
- Firm grasp of the Asset Management data environment and its complexities
- Familiarity with multiple asset classes, especially fixed income asset classes
- Good understanding of the investment strategies, factor models, security analytics and market data
- Experience in Data Engineering, Architecture, Data Tools, BI tools and Data Governance framework
- Business oriented mindset, with the ability to fluently translate between business language and data language
- Playing a critical role in driving and overseeing major business change to deliver enterprise value by managing major data-driven change initiatives.
- Strategic foresight and entrepreneurial mindset around innovation and evolution to build long-term, sustainable outcomes
- Strong communication, leadership, relationship management, creative problem solving and quantitative skills
- Ability to disrupt and drive transformative change while collaborating and building bridges
- Acumen for strategic business and technology planning and execution, including trend analysis, policy development and maintenance.

PREFERRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Solid understanding of Investment knowledge (multiple asset classes, especially fixed income) and investment data environment and complexities
