
THE ROLE
Using discretion and judgment, this position directs the strategy and overall management direction for the Department. Works closely with Senior Management to develop and implement service solutions and efficiencies that are aligned with the vision and strategy of MFS and MFSC. Responsible for the operational relationship with key distribution partners and third-party vendors. Manages assigned staff and sets goals and objectives for the Department consistent with and complementing strategic goals set forth to ensure that the Department is run efficiently and effectively in terms of service levels, employee management & within budgetary guidelines.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Manages personnel, either directly or through supervisors; allocates staff, monitors workload and makes decisions regarding employment, training and development, performance appraisals and salary actions. Ensures timely action on merit increases, developmental plans and performance appraisals for each individual within the departmental Division.
- Provides insight and strategic expertise, either directly or through supervisors; in projects and initiatives, monitors progress and makes decisions regarding completion of milestones.
- Develops overall goals and objectives for the department and routinely communicates with personnel with respect to success in meeting goals.
- Represents MFS by attending various industry committees/groups to ensure company interests are being considered. Attends industry seminars and communicates relevant information to business unit.
- Recommends new policies and procedures to ensure effective use of resources and efficient processing methods to ensure consistently superior service levels.
- Travels to top MFS clients and key vendors to oversee, interface and evaluate the performance of vendors and intermediary relationships. Ensures that MFS' professional standards are maintained and improved when appropriate.
- Prepares and reviews contract language as it relates to operations. Ensures vendor accountability through the administration of contractual SLAs.
- Prepares department budget. Assists Division Head on monitoring budget and identifying opportunities to gain operating efficiencies and improving profitability where feasible.
- Develops and monitors internal controls and assures that procedures are documented and maintained as they pertain to operations, regulatory requirements and data integrity.
- Interacts with MFS personnel, auditors (internal and external), compliance, legal, distribution and others as required.
- Assumes additional responsibilities, as required.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
- 8-12+ years prior mutual funds experience.
- Demonstrates ability to work effectively in a high volume, people intensive environment required.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to make oral and written presentations to groups of various sizes and levels.
- Financial skills to plan and manage to an annual operating and capital budget.
