The solutions architect is the main point of contact for assigned client engagements. The successful candidate will contribute to consulting projects of all sizes, including the largest, and take a solutions architecture leadership role on these projects. They will contribute domain expertise across all practice areas—strategy, planning, and implementation—depending on business needs and skill sets. They will lead the development of their respective practice area and will take an active role in thought leadership and knowledge management activities.

The solutions architect will also contribute to direct and indirect sales activities, collaborate on proposal development, and identify opportunities with new and existing clients. They will actively build productive networks with our clients’ staff, subconsultants, and vendors.

How you’ll help:

• Demonstrate experience in systems and integration architecture of multiple domains of distribution operations systems—such as advanced metering infrastructure, geographic information systems, outage management systems, and meter data management systems—including participation in the development of system context diagrams, physical and logical architectures, and documentation of existing and new architecture in plans; knowledge of energy or water analytics and customer engagement portal implementation are a plus.
• Provide test engineering expertise in developing overall test strategies, plans, scripts, and defect tracking and resolution tools; coordinate the resolution of issues identified in testing with affected client and vendor organizations.
• Provide architectural, integration, and system and test engineering leadership to clients, championing best practices, tools, techniques, and methods with clients and vendors to ensure successful project implementation from a technology perspective; share those practices, tools, techniques, and methods within our organization.
• Understand typical utility business processes and how technology supports overall business requirements.
• Create technology roadmaps and shape clients’ IT strategy.
• Actively engage in multiple high-value projects, delivering work products to clients on time and within budget.
• Facilitate open and proactive communication with the project team and our clients.
• Develop and foster the client relationship with the goal of being recognized as a trusted partner and adviser.
• Identify opportunities with new and existing clients, providing substantive assistance in proposal creation as requested.
• Be a high achiever with a positive attitude, act with openness and integrity, and freely contribute to team and client success.

What will make you a great fit:

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field; master’s degree with specialized industry training is a plus.
• Seven to fourteen years of consulting experience as an accomplished solutions architect with strong consulting skills.
• Demonstrated solutions architecture expertise within the utility sector (AMI, OMS, GIS, etc.).
• AMI operations or implementation experience.
• Proven and effective communication skills, including the ability to make decisions and guide a project team with impact, authority, and presence.
• The ability to promote change, suggesting innovative ideas and developing new service offerings or technical solutions.

The budgeted compensation range is:

$110,000 - $146,000 + annual bonus.

Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.

Travel Requirements: Travel requirements will vary by client, project, and the stage of the project.  Travel could be up to 30% in a month.
