The Assistant Director serves as the primary contact for Bridgewater State University for all employer engagement-related activities to expand partnerships and increase internships and job opportunities for students and alumni/ae.
Position Summary
POSITION SUMMARY:The Assistant Director serves as the primary contact for Bridgewater State University for all employer engagement-related activities to expand partnerships and increase internships and job opportunities for students and alumni/ae.SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Associate Director, Employer Engagement & Outreach
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Administrative Assistant, Student Workers, Graduate Assistants, Clerical and Support Staff.
POSITION TYPE: APA Professional, Exempt
TOUR OF DUTY: This is a 12-month, exempt, APA unit position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.
Standard Schedule- 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Some evening and weekend hours as well as travel will be required for this position.
This position is eligible for a hybrid/remote work schedule based on departmental needs and university policies.
Essential Duties
CORE DUTIES:- Serve as the primary contact for employers interested in recruiting Bridgewater State University students and alumni for jobs, internships, and experiential learning opportunities.
- Work closely with faculty and deans to identify and engage potential employers and alumni for outreach efforts.
- Coordinate industry panels, career fairs, networking events, employer information sessions, and other employer engagement activities as assigned.
- Conduct ongoing assessment and provide feedback on the effectiveness of the employer engagement activities.
- Identify and cultivate alumni and corporate partners aligned with university academic programs and student interests.
- Develop outreach strategies to attract, establish, and retain recruiting relationships with employer partners.
- Manage all employer-related activities in Handshake, including but not limited to job postings, information sessions, career fair registrations, employer sponsorships, first destination surveys, internship data tracking, and employment trends.
- Facilitate student-employer connections through organized site visits and group bus trips.
- Attend meetings and events hosted by professional organizations, including regional chambers and employer resource groups.
- Develop regular communication and promotional materials promoting the university's initiatives, programs, and events with alumni and prospective and current employer partners.
- Collaborate with Advancement to cultivate alumni engagement in career development activities such as speaker series, professional training, mentorship, and leadership development programs.
- Identify the latest industry trends and workforce development related to student and alumni career development.
- Create sponsorship opportunities that help employers increase their campus recruiting brand and generate department resources.
- Track alumni and employer engagement activities utilizing Career Forge. Provide reporting on outreach and engagement activity to department leadership, maintain data in the system, and train staff on utilization.
- Collaborate with department staff as well as the division of Enrollment, Marketing and Communications to collect alumni and student outcomes and success stories.
- Support the first destination data collection effort and contribute information for the Office's annual report.
- Provide coverage for walk-in appointments or career advisement sessions for students and alumni when needed.
- Conduct career development workshops and connect students with alumni for career advancement.
- Perform other duties assigned by the senior management team of the office.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Three years professional experience in related field.
- Proven record in developing meaningful relationships.
- Possess excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate high professionalism with a strong ability to speak publicly at events and/or create professional presentation materials.
- Excellent technical background, including high-level knowledge of Handshake, Microsoft Suite products, and social media such as LinkedIn.
- Ability to work independently to achieve department goals
- Demonstrate awareness and commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB)
- Requires some evening and weekend work availability as well as business travel.
- Requires a valid driver's license for this position.
- Extremely organized and able to manage multiple priorities and creatively solve problems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using, maintaining records, and running reports utilizing a Client Relationship Management (CRM) product
- Experience planning or co-planning large-scale events.
- Experience with and contribute to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) efforts within the college campus and the workplace.
