





The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. The AHA has two main offices, located in Washington, D.C. and Chicago. We are currently seeking a Director, Physician Payment Policy for our Washington, D.C. office. This position is a hybrid role (three days in the office, two days working remote).
Starting base salary = $195,000- $244,000- $293,000 (commensurate with related experience). The AHA is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and location.
The Director, Physician Payment Policy is responsible for taking a leadership role in developing and advocating American Hospital Association (AHA) policy related to alternative payment models, telehealth, and Medicare physician and Allied health payment issues, enabling the AHA to have a positive impact on the political and policy environment facing its members. Develop, advocate and articulate policy positions that foster support and understanding of members on alternative payment, telehealth and Medicare physician and Allied health payment issues. Engage and collaborate with AHA members; Hill staff; Federal agency staff; and other relevant organizations.
Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lead AHA health policy issues, including alternative payment models, telehealth, and Medicare physician and Allied health payment issues. Develop and maintain relationships with members to collaborate on advocacy work on these issues.
- Develop and maintain relationships with senior government officials, state and national health care association executives, and the hospital community. Influence policymakers, such as Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation and others through meetings and presenting information.
- Lead analysis of legislation and regulations and supervise data analyses to develop and present regulatory advisories, comment letters, and member webinars. Across all issues, collaborate and coordinate with the AHA federal relations and communications team members to support advocacy, public messaging, and the development of policy maker, member and public-facing materials.
- Work collaboratively with AHA colleagues to manage issues and support activities that involve a physician payment policy aspect.
