Job Summary:

 

Education/Experience Required: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, or closely related field plus two (2) years’ experience in GIS or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and maintain GIS data
  • Develop and maintain Solano County’s web GIS services
  • Develop data interoperability workflows for data conversion and development with non-GIS data
  • Maintain and continue to develop Solano County’s ArcGIS Enterprise on-premise deployment
  • Assist customers in designing and deploying applications for data conversion, collection, and viewing using ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and/or ArcGIS Online
  • Work with a variety of Professionals in Health, Human Services, Planning, Facility Mgt., Engineering, ROV, Law Enforcement and other governmental services
  • Maintain and create end-user/action plans and other documentation on all related GIS projects
  • Provide technical support related to GIS functions and applications
  • Provide user support and training in the use of GIS
  • Conduct spatial analysis and develop statistical reports
  • Prepare reports of geographical statistics based on spatial data
  • Perform other duties as required for a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst
  • Work with other Department of Information Technology GIS Analysts in a team environment

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS (10.3.x and higher) to design, implement and maintain a geographic information system including data base design and system interfaces
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro (2.0 or higher) to design, implement and maintain a geographic information system including data base design and system interfaces
  • Knowledge and/or experience with web-mapping principles and platforms including Portal for ArcGIS, Server for ArcGIS, and ArcGIS Online
  • Ability to plan, develop and implement GIS projects
  • Experience with Local Government nformation Model (LGIM), geodatabases and relational databases
  • Experience in cadastral and/or survey drafting with CAD and/or GIS products preferred but not required
  • Experience with ESRI parcel editing workflows preferred but not required
  • Experience working within an ArcGIS versioning environment
  • Understanding of Safe Software FME workflows
  • Understanding of Local Government workflows and structure
  • Must be able to read and effectively interpret general business documentation
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Basic understanding and some experience in programming languages such as JavaScript, HTML5, and Python

 

Work Environment:

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as the employee works in an office setting, at an individual work station, using telephone and computer

 

Physical Demands:

 

· Must be able to remain in a stationary position for most of the day

· Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a printer/copy machine

· This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office

· The person in this position frequently communicates via telephone
