Job Description

Position Summary:

This position will support the Finance Department collaborating across various departments assisting in the development of the fiscal budget, forecast and monthly operating results.  Position will assist with overseeing and analyzing root causes for drivers of cost in budget to actual variance analysis, develop financial modeling to rationalize strategic initiative opportunities and assist in constructing roadmap to portray trajectory of those projects.  Directly reporting to the Director of Finance.

 

Essential Job Functions:

                                                                                                                                   

  • Provide financial analysis as needed for operational and strategic requirements.
  • Support all health plans and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Undertake special projects and assist in researching technical accounting issues that may arise.
  • Participates in root cause analysis in order to assist in recommendation process enhancements or other appropriate actions to improve productivity for both the Operational Departments of the organization and the Finance Department.
  • Coordinate department special projects to ensure quality and meet timetables.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

 

Minimum Experience

  • Must possess 2+ years SQL experience working with claims and/or capitation environments, running stored procedures and use joins.
  • Minimum 2+ years of related experience in Healthcare Finance
  • Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills; experience with graphical spreadsheets a plus.
  • Ability to work under strict timelines to meet multiple and sometimes competing deadlines.
  • Ability to produce and explain financial & accounting reports.
  • Understand basic financial and accounting concepts.
  • Experience with contracts a plus.
  • Experience with risk pools a plus.

 

Education/Licensure:

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum) or Master’s degree (preferred) in business administration or health care administration

 

Skills and Abilities:

Language Skills: Strong communication skills both written and verbal to work with multiple internal and external clients in a fast-paced environment Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.  Computer Skills: Ability to create and maintain documents using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Other Skills and Abilities:  Ability to work with large data in SQL environment, transfer information to other platforms (such as Excel) and create functional reporting.
