Overview

Reporting to the Director of Automation; the Sales Development Automation Engineer will be responsible for spearheading the development of customer proposals and presentations, maintaining existing customer relationships, and identifying new sales prospects seeking automation opportunities to ultimately achieve profit goals. This position will be out of our New Berliin Gamache Division.



Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of customer proposals and presentations.
  • Design concepts and layouts using 2D and 3D modeling software for robotic systems, custom automation, and special machines using lean manufacturing tools.
  • Identify where continuous improvement opportunities exist to implement automation into customers manufacturing processes by studying current product manufacturing methods.
  • Investigate, gather, and analyze customer manufacturing processes to present ROI justifications for automation capital expenditures.
  • Coordinate with Mechanical and Electrical Engineering support teams to help specify equipment components and associated labor requirements for customer proposals.
  • Help identify and cultivate new sales opportunities by building relationships with existing, new, and potential customers.
  • Engage with customers early in the development stage with new upcoming projects.
  • Participate in project reviews to help ensure projects are consistent with customers’ expectations.
  • Help with the transfer of information from the Sales team to the Engineering teams when POs are received; defining scope of work, sequence of operations, budgets, timelines, ect.
  • Research and stay current with best available technologies related to automation.
  • Operate in a team environment to help meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Possess strong ME and EE skill sets that will be utilized in development of customer proposals
  • Obtains Fanuc robot knowledge and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of 2D and 3D modeling software design tools to assist in the development of automation design concepts and layouts
  • AutoCAD and Solidworks
  • Able to translate automation conceptual designs into functional equipment.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office products.
  • Able to think analytically and creatively while keeping safety and cost in mind.
  • Able to operate on own initiative with minimal supervision, but also contribute as a team member working within the Sales team and other cross functional teams.
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Working knowledge of Six Sigma DMAIC strategy used to improve, optimize, and stabilize manufacturing processes and designs.
  • Able to read manufacturing blueprints, and working knowledge of GD&T.
  • The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field with 3+ years of sales experience in an automation environment.
