Job Description

We're working with a major petrochemical company with a location in Houston that's currently in the pre-FEED phase of a mega project along the Gulf Coast. They need a Mechanical Engineer with Rotating Equipment experience in the Petrochemical/Polymersindustry for a long-term contract experience.

Job Description

  • To work with our client's project as Mechanical Engineer for Rotating and Package Equipment and provide consultancy services in rotating equipment engineering.
  • Review Project Engineering deliverables related to Rotating and Package Equipment.
  • To provide support to site construction work and participate in site construction activities.


  • Bachelors Degree
  • 15+ years of experience in petrochemical, or a 5+ years of petrochemical in addition to oil and gas, refinery, or engineering companies
  • 5+ years in design office

Job Specific Skills

  • Good knowledge on relevant US codes, standards and industrial practices and regulations.
  • Capability to interpret project standards, specification, analyze, exceptions when put up by vendors and to provide technical and engineering support to rotating equipment issues.
  • Shall possess knowledge to review/update and develop company's rotating equipment standards.
  • Comprehensive and in-depth knowledge is essential for handling of all the activities related to development/review of rotating equipment engineering deliverables during basic and detailed engineering phases of major projects.
  • Experience in preparation of Mechanical Data Sheets based on Process date sheets for rotating equipment.
  • Knowledge of required deliverables to the end user (project experience).
  • Knowledge in value engineering techniques / practices.
  • Troubleshooting all rotating equipment-related malfunctions and shall have core strength to carryout Root Cause Analysis of plant's chronic problems and develop the solution for resolving such problems.
  • Work with vendor technical representatives to resolve equipment technical problems.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English language.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products.
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in evaluation of Technical offers, project specification.
  • Training subordinates and affiliates engineers.
  • Review mechanical specifications, data sheets and other design documents; provide written comments to EPC Contractor within given time frame.
  • Review inspection test plans related to mechanical equipment.
  • Review and participate in rotating equipment Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) & Site Acceptance Test.
  • Knowledge of commissioning and start-up; cleanliness requirements, site checks and first operation.
  • Evaluates vendors' bids and drawings to assure compliance with specifications.
  • Communicates equipment design to the EPC vendor and other design disciplines.
  • Reviews and approves design drawings for assigned segment of the project.
  • Participates in reviews of PFD's and P&ID's.
  • Participates in the preparation of equipment lists, piping line lists and specialty item lists.
  • Monitors subcontracted technical services' activities.
  • Supervises and directs the activities of other personnel in his team.
  • Provides input to estimates, proposals, scheduling, manpower planning…etc.
  • Good leadership, planning and management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Language.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and related Rotating equipment software.
  • Experience as an Owner engineer, on site or as part of owner's project team, is an advantage.
