Our Radiation Oncology facility in Oxford, FL is seeking a qualified Radiation Therapist for our free-standing cancer treatment center. The center is equipped with a Varian 21iX Linear Accelerator with RapidArc, OBI, and CBCT. The center utilizes Aria and Eclipse planning. Must be ARRT certified and have a valid Florida State License. Two years clinical experience preferred but not required.

Radiation Therapist Responsibilities:
  • Delivers prescribed course of radiation treatment to patient.
  • Checks patient chart for prescription, diagnosis, and treatment schedule.
  • Prepares patient for treatment which includes explaining basic procedures and being perceptive and sensitive to patient's physical and emotional condition in order to notify appropriate personnel of the need for any intervention, i.e., Social Services, Chaplaincy, Dietitians, etc.
  • Prepares room equipment in accordance with prescribed treatment plan which involves equipment testing, immobilization devices, field size, treatment couch, giving special care to catheters, intravenous drips, etc.
  • Delivers prescribed dose insuring that safe amounts of radiation are administered, and that exposure is made only to prescribed areas.
  • Performs simulation duties which involve producing localization films of anatomical sites, and processing films for viewing by Radiation Oncologist.
  • Assists staff Physicist in the quality control of all radiation therapy equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education for Radiation Therapist:

Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; Associates degree (A.S.) from a two-year program; or Certificate degree from one-year program. All programs must be in Radiation Therapy Technology and approved by the American Medical Association. Graduate of such program must be ARRT Certified.
