SightMD is looking for a career minded individual to be at the heart of that vision and assist in the daily patient care and flow of clinic activities. The Ophthalmic Photographer is responsible for providing diagnostic imaging support to clinical physicians. The Ophthalmic Photographer serves as a technical expert for the department, and works under general direction to complete assigned projects. To fulfill job responsibilities, employees assigned to this class must have superior skill in taking quality photographs with specialized camera/equipment. You should be able to communicate professionally, be comfortable working in a medical office environment, be highly organized, have a strong customer service background, possess excellent computer and organizational skills, and embody a welcoming/friendly demeanor. Your schedule will vary, dependent on the operational hours of the office you are assigned to. You must have the flexibility to work within these hours of operation, including occasional weekends, early mornings, or late evenings as needed.


The Ophthalmic Photographer responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Take images of patients using specialized equipment, such as Ocular fundus imaging system, Optical Coherence Tomography, Specular Microscopy, and Photo slit lamp Biomicroscope as requested by physician
  • Upload images into patient electronic files
  • Work with Ophthalmic photographers, staff and trainees assigned to unit
  • Prepare images, videos and other imaging support as requested by physician faculty, fellow and residents for the purpose of lectures and educational presentations
  • Obtain certification for all National Institute of Health studies which require photography for collecting data
  • Maintain clinical examination device computers, academic computers and departmental web site
  • May maintain and upgrade clinical network server and networked computer systems used for storage and retrieval of diagnostic and documentation of images of patients.
  • Special projects and other duties may be assigned as needed

. Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training in clinical/ research photography
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Highly Reliable
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Ability to perform under pressure
  • Ability to prioritize and work in a high-volume work environment
  • Superior manual dexterity and hand eye coordination
  • Evenings and weekends may be required based on the location/office hours.
  • Experience in the medical field
  • Prior experience in ophthalmology
  • Ability to read and write in both English and Spanish
