Job Type: Full-time

Salary Range: $15.20-22.80


Provide support to mortgage loan officers, and complete verification of information provided by the member for mortgage loan applications.


  • To be an integral part of the Hoosier Hills Credit Union and Mortgage Services team in living out our corporate mission; “To be better for our members by making a positive difference in their lives and the communities we serve.”
  • Deliver outstanding service to both internal and external members that is in alignment with the Credit Union's Service Promises.
  • Meet all established service goals as measured by the Internal Service Survey.
  • Maintain current knowledge of all Credit Union products, as assessed by the annual product knowledge certification.
  • Be knowledgeable of HHCU policy guidelines and investors concerning income documentation, debt ratios, loan-to-value ratios, credit evaluation, etc.
  • Verify information provided on the loan application is documented within the file and meets all underwriting guidelines for the investor.
  • Request and track missing documentation to ensure timely review of information prior to submission to underwriting.
  • Order third party vendor services such as appraisal, flood certification, tax transcripts, verifications and title work.
  • Follow up to ensure timely receipt of third party items and input any corrections to information as items are received.
  • Complete checklist, and verify documents and information is placed in file in order.
  • Print appraisal, and enter key information into loan software system.
  • Cross-sell Credit Union services as appropriate.
  • Complete annual Bank Secrecy/OFAC and any related training annually as assigned by Training or Compliance Staff. Comply with all applicable BSA/AML laws, rules, regulations, policies and business practices established by Credit Union management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Complete steps necessary for registration with National Mortgage Licensing System, and maintain compliance with the Safe Act.
  • Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills essential for interviewing loan applicants and projecting a positive image as representative of the Credit Union.
  • Work requires knowledge of mortgage loan policy, credit granting criteria, interest rates and how they are computed, and required documentation for mortgage loans. Extensive knowledge of real estate sales and regulations, appraisal guidelines and financial statements.
  • Requires judgment to apply broader aspects of established practices to situations, which go beyond clear, concise guidelines.
  • Requires education equivalent to a four-year high school diploma.
  • At least 6 months related experience, preferably in lending.
  • Intermediate mathematical skills required (calculations and concepts involving decimals, percentages, fractions, etc.).

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • Works in a typical administrative setting with climate control and appropriate lighting.
  • Work requires continuous sitting, as well as occasionally lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds.
