The Tissue Group, a division of Cascades, is the second-largest tissue producer in Canada and the fifth-largest in North America. The Division manufactures, converts and markets a huge selection of paper products, such as hand towels, bathroom tissue, facial tissue, napkins, paper towels, wipers and dispensers for the North American away-from-home and consumer products markets. The Group has more than 2,200 employees and operates seven manufacturing plants, nine conversion plants and four plants with both manufacturing and conversion facilities.

Your challenge!

The maintenance planner will be responsible to plan and schedule all plant maintenance activities. The planner will support the plant in providing the necessary maintenance resources and record keeping required to increase plant productivity, assist in maintenance work preparations to improve work efficiencies and increase plant performance. The role will be responsible for maintaining production equipment availability and performance at satisfactory levels through the planning, scheduling, coordinating and reporting of repair activities. This role assures resources (parts, tools and personnel) are available and adequate to complete these tasks.


Job Responsibilities
  • Coordinate weekly and shutdown maintenance planning and scheduling of reactive and preventive work
  • In collaboration with end users, ensures availability of equipment and facilities for the execution of reactive and preventive maintenance work
  • Leads the work order process from initiation to close
  • Prepares parts lists, SOP's and work order kits for planned jobs
  • Maintain all plant equipment records in, and that all maintenance work including planned and unplanned work is scheduled through e-maintenance.
  • Prepare and maintain a weekly maintenance schedule; issue work orders to maintenance staff for execution daily.
  • Audit preventative and corrective work assignments to ensure repair schedules and performance expectations are met.
  • Ensure all labor hours, materials, and necessary notes or procedural changes associated with the work are accurately recorded and work is closed in a timely manner.
  • Purchase and maintain inventory of parts required and inventory levels needed to complete all scheduled PM and CM Work Orders.
  • Manage and schedule maintenance activities such as inspections, instrument calibrations, and equipment preventive maintenance and validation assessments.
  • Plan all activities associated with planned plant outages and weekend work under the direction of the Maintenance Manager to provide for maximum use of available resources.
  • Recommend the need for and aid in securing the scheduling of outside resources on an as needed basis.
  • Advise when a scheduled maintenance downtime should be rescheduled and communicate and coordinate new plan.
  • Notify supervisor of any problems or issues with inventory, planning and scheduling.

Minimum of 1 year(s)  coordination or planning experience in a manufacturing organization is required.

High School Diploma in Other relevant fields
Technical competencies
  • General parts, electrical, and mechanical equipment understanding desired
  • Computer skills and experience with ERP system, inventory management, CMMS System software necessary; desired.
  • Forklift operation and maintenance repair experience helpful.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and SAP 
Additional information
  • OSHA knowledge beneficial.
  • Accurate, detail-oriented team player highly preferred.
  • Experience working in a 24/7 highly automated production environment with availablity to work additional hours as required.
