 Description – IT Security Systems Analyst 2

Position Overview

Universal is currently seeking an IT Security Analyst as an integral part of enabling UWA Information Technology to be fast, flexible and secure.  This position will be based in our corporate headquarters located Clear Lake. 

The IT security analyst supports the organization's information security controls in order to safeguard information against accidental or unauthorized access, modification and/or destruction. They will respond to security alerts, incidents and other risk related events. The position will also perform installation, testing, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of security management systems and software. Assist with IT change management coordination and oversight. The position will work with others in the organization to understand security needs and develop security solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement and manage security systems (e.g.  IDS/IPS systems, vulnerability scanners, anti-virus, authentication systems, etc.)

  • Conduct operations of SIEM technology, including event review and remediation efforts

  • Maintain and enhance corporate security policies, protocol and procedures

  • Conduct investigations of security incidents

  • Perform vulnerability testing and risk analysis activities

  • Assist with vulnerability remediation

  • Prepare reports and conduct briefings with cross-functional IT stake holders

  • Participate in security training material development

  • Review new technologies and vendors that may enhance security controls

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Security or equivalent background
  • 2+ Years IT security experience in a corporate environment
  • CompTIA Security+ or CISSP desired
  • Enterprise Windows server administration experience strongly desired
  • Understand TCP/IP networking
  • A general understanding of network system architecture
  • Incident response experience desired
