Position Summary

The Applied Technology Department at The College of Southern Nevada invites applications for a Full Time Instructor in our Welding Technology Program starting August 2019. The Welding Technologies Instructor will develop and instruct courses in accordance with the established course syllabus of record. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in Non-Destructive Testing. This includes:

 

 

  • Organizing instruction towards achieving student-learning outcomes.
  • The utilization of curriculum and textbooks; conferring with students and assigning grades.
  • Teaching Welding Courses such as Intro to Welding, Welding Inspection, Welding Blueprint Reading, Oxy/fuel, Plasma, arc air Cutting Operations, SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW etc.
  • Participation in department, college and university committees, as well as student recruitment activities.
  • Participation and assist the team to maintain and develop strong industry and community partnerships, within and outside of the program advisory committee.
  • Commitment to continuing their professional development as an educator through attendance to industry conferences and membership of professional associations.
  • Other duties will include program assessment and curriculum development; student advising and mentoring; scholarship of teaching and learning- upholding professional and ethical standards; outreach to the college, community, and profession; and duties as assigned by the Program Director and or Department Chair.

 


Required Qualifications

 

 

  • Associate's degree in Welding or related field from an accredited college or university and 5 years of experience working in the Welding Industry or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

 


Preferred Qualifications

 

 

  • Current Certified Welding Inspector credentials.
  • ASNT Level 2 credentials.
  • Experience in automated welding and/or cutting processes.
  • Knowledge of computer classroom technologies.
  • Experience working with a diverse/multicultural student body and/or workforce in a post-secondary environment.

 


Starting Salary Range

Initial salary placement is based on educational level and total years of full-time equivalent teaching experience. A maximum of 10 years of experience will be considered for initial salary placement purposes.
