Description

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

All instructors support individual’s character, choices, strengths, interests and needs. Ensures safety, health and well-being of individuals.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Fosters independence of individuals. Implement meaningful activities daily.
  • Assists with the planning and implementation of community services
  • Completes required documentation promptly and accurately. Provides status reports on implementation.
  • Ensures adequate supplies are available to support individual needs.
  • Attends/participates in general staff meetings, in-service training and other pertinent agency and community program meetings/trainings
  • Ensures the healthy, safety and welling being of individuals
  • Meets and maintains approved driver status and safely provides transportation for individuals as necessary.
  • Performs CPR and Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP-R).
  • Complies with all agency policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 18 years of age.
  • NYS Driver’s License that meets agency policy.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the position when performing the following: standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling and climbing.
  • Lifting requirement of 35 lbs.
  • Ability to read and comprehend plans and documentation.
  • Basic computer skills necessary for communication and documentation.
  • Ability to lift and transfer individuals manually and mechanically as required by prescribed program/plan.
  • Physical agility and ability to react to emergency situations, including maintaining Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP-R) certification as per regulatory guidelines.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Medication administration preferred.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
