Nemours is seeking a Director, Facility Planning (Full-Time), to join our team in Wilmington, Delaware.

As the birthplace of the Nemours healthcare system, the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del. honors our legacy of delivering exceptional care to the children of the Delaware Valley and beyond. Ranked among the nation’s best pediatric hospitals by U.S. News & World Report and honored with the ANCC’s Magnet Designation for excellence in nursing practice, we offer intensive and acute inpatient and outpatient services covering more than 30 pediatric specialties. In October, we will complete a multi-phase hospital expansion that will include new inpatient rooms, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department. Additionally, Nemours duPont Pediatrics allows us to reach more children across the region through community-based physician services and collaborative partnerships with health and hospital systems.

With the constant growth and change of Nemours Facilities in the Enterprise, the need to strategically plan Capital Projects with our projected financial challenges has become evident.  The Facilities Planning Team will manage Corporate Interiors, Facilities Planner, Integrated Facility Design & CAD Tech to support the Enterprise goals and strategic objectives.  The Director of Planning will work within the Corporate Facilities Department as a member of that team in delivering the highest level of customer service to the Nemours Enterprise. Position will be key leader in defining the scope to the end-user’s project, and validating the legitimacy of end-user requests in conjunction with the Facilities Planner and Interior Designer staff.

  • Manages Project Request Process for the Enterprise.  Host initial meetings with End Users for Scope Definition and establishes goals for Capital Projects.
  • Work and communicate very closely with each Director of Facilities and assigned Project Manager and for the specific project planning needs.
  • Knowledge of three dimensional spaces and architectural principles to perform a range of planning exercises. Knowledge of Healthcare standards and codes.
  • Manage and coordinate with Manager, Real Estate for leased space across the Enterprise.
  • Manage Department Staffing to perform test fits, space plans and creates functional space programs to define project scope.
  • Support Enterprise Leadership with Facilities needs in Annual Strategic Plan Master plan governance for all capital projects.  Champion for space and quality standards.
  • Must have a collaborative work ethic and willingness to take initiative in creating systems that work within Corporate Facilities Department needs.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Great communications skills are required.

Job Requirements

  • Master's Degree required.
  • Minimum of five (5) + years experience required.
  • Healthcare Facilities Planning experience required.
  • Knowledge of Healthcare Facilities strategies and standards.
  • AutoCAD and Revit software, SharePoint, e-Builder PM Software, Microsoft Office
