Job Description

Job Summary:

Avenu is seeking an intermediate to senior level configuration management Engineer to join a dynamic products development team. The successful candidate must be competent to work on complex projects and apply intermediate to senior level technical knowledge to configuration management, automated build and deployment for software applications.


The CM Engineer will assist in all aspects of Configuration Management, including process engineering, implementation and enforcement of configuration management and automation procedures. The CM Engineer will provide hands on work alongside the development, QA and software support teams. The CM Engineer should have hands on, proven experience with software development languages, systems and tools and must have solid experience with builds, build systems and continuous integration practices.


Applicants will have held a recent role in configuration management and DevOps in a software development or professional services team.


Duties and Responsibilities:

· Recommend configuration management solutions that effectively meet business and customer requirements and support product development life cycles.

· Develop configuration management plans to support software projects and products.

· Establish and maintain configuration management repositories for managing source code.

· Prepare configuration management reports and maintain historical documentation.

· Develop automated tools/scripts to support daily configuration management activities and continuous integration.

· Perform application builds to support multiple development, test, and support environments.

· Assist with change and release management.

· Perform configuration audits and implement audit recommendations.

· Determine configuration requirements and develop configuration procedures and standards.

· Develop process improvements to enhance configuration efficiency.

· Educate staffs about configuration policies and practices.

· Follow and enforce configuration management policies and practices.

· Analyze and resolve configuration problems in a timely fashion.

· Work with globally dispersed development teams that may include offshore third-party vendors.

· Support on-going development projects by participating (as requested) in project planning and estimation, standards development, issue resolution, root cause analysis, etc.

· Participate in routine meetings and documentation reviews


Knowledge and Experience:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other engineering discipline with appropriate software engineering/development/technology experience or equivalent years’ experience in similar field.

· 5 - 7 years of IT Delivery Experience, including a recent role in configuration management or DevOps capacity.

· 5 - 7 years of experience supporting mission-critical software development projects.

· Deep knowledge and expertise in configuration management principles, tools, and procedures.

· Team Foundation Server and Visual Studio experience is essential.

· Hands on experience and expertise supporting .NET and C# applications.

· Expertise with SDLC and various delivery methodologies (Waterfall and Agile).

· Experience supporting various development platforms.

· Experience with Microsoft SQL Server database technologies.


Skills and Abilities:

· Excellent communication skills with ability to effectively present to executive management and customers to establish positions, secure direction, or facilitate decisions.

· Proficient in Information Systems fundamentals and concepts.

· Must be a strong team player and demonstrate an ability to work well with others.

· Willingness and ability to travel to client sites during implementation phases of a project.

· Must consent to and successfully clear all required pre-employment screenings (background and substance abuse).
