Clinical Director of Nursing Experience

Minimum of three years recent experience in an Outpatient Multi-Specialty Surgery Center

One year Supervisory experience preferred


Clinical Director of Nursing Description:

Oversees and coordinates the daily clinical operations of the Center and ensures the performance of high quality surgical procedures.

Performs duties in support of the Crozer-Keystone Health System and Hospital mission to ensure the highest quality of patient care in an economically sound and efficient manner. Age range of patient population served: Adult, Geriatrics and Pediatrics. Day to day full time person in charge of clinical operations.

Clinical Director of Nursing Requirements:
  • Coordinates the daily clinical operations of the Center and ensures all procedures and regulatory compliance are performed in accordance with Division of Surgery policies and procedures along with the PA Department of Health
  • Sets staffing levels and oversees scheduling ensuring adequate coverage at all times
  • Effectively responds to needs, concerns and requests of Medical Staff, patients and co-workers while maintaining operation of Center
  • Ensures staff is knowledgeable and competent to perform duties by providing, coordinating and overseeing orientation, training and continuing education as reflected in departmental policies and records
  • Completes all annual staff performance appraisals and delivers to Administrative Director by due date
  • Participates in developing, communicating, implementing and revising policies and procedures for the department to provide guidelines for operations including protocols, performance criteria and integration of services. Demonstrated by a complete and current policy and procedure manual, minutes and other records
  • Plans for and recommends space, staffing, training and equipment needed by the center to meet patient needs and/or provide other services. Demonstrated by budget, goals and objectives, reports and other records
  • Monitors budget on an ongoing basis and prepares variance reports, ect to ensure financial goals are met or revised as appropriate
  • Assists in preparing annual budget to provide appropriate level of care and established financial goals. Documents plans and assumptions used in complication
  • Manages quality improvement process through managing and assessing systems to improve performance and to identify needs
  • Assists in selection and evaluation of outside providers for related services not provided internally
  • Acts as a resource to staff
  • Assists in selection, trains, assigns and supervises staff. Evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions
  • Trains and orients other personnel such as new employees or students
  • Volunteers assistance to other staff members handling their work load. Recognizes and performs duties which need to be performed although not directly assigned
  • Completes procedures, paperwork and completes all work assignments in a timely and efficient manner
  • Assesses changes in patient status, equipment problems, schedule changes and any other issues effecting the operations of the center. Considers all alternatives and chooses the appropriate course of action to ensure patient safety and smooth lab operations
  • Promptly notifies Administrative Director or appropriate person of any problems with equipment, personnel or any other issues effecting the operations of the center
  • Adjusts and revises schedule to deal with priorities: stat cases
  • Observes the hospital's accepted dress code, maintains a professional appearance and wears identification badge at all times
  • Maintains licensure and certification as required by job requirements and provides documentation
  • Self starter
  • Recognizes and performs tasks to be completed and/or services to be provided
  • Completes work independently

Clinical Director of Nursing Education and Training

Associates Degree in Nursing required

Bachelors Degree in Nursing or related field preferred

Clinical Director of Nursing Registration, Licensure and/or Certification

Current Pennsylvania R.N. License

BCLS required

ACLS required within six months of employment

Clinical Director of Nursing Skills

Operates monitoring, diagnostic and resuscitation equipment

Uses computer and office equipment

Maintains filing systems

Answers telephones

Administers medications

Clinical Director of Nursing Physical Demands and Sensory Requirements

Extremely heavy physical effort: lift/carry up over 50 lbs
