The WIC Communications Specialist is the first point of contact for the patients, the public, and other entities communicating with Mountain Park Health Center. The WIC Communications Specialist is responsible for answering contacts from inbound phone calls, text messages, and chat and documenting those contacts using the appropriate computer systems. Additionally assists supervisor in day-to-day administrative work.
Essential Functions
- Receives and processes multiple incoming contacts using Talk Desk software.
- Sets patient appointments to meet with a WIC Nutritionist or Registered Dietician at an appropriate clinic location in accordance with WIC department requirements.
- Assists new patients in registering with Mountain Park Health Center WIC.
- Verifies patient demographics and insurance information, and updates changes as needed.
- Cancels/reschedules appointments as requested by patients. Updates appointment schedules through computer systems
- Observes and respects the confidentiality of patient, visitor, and employee information.
- Maintains collaborative relationships with participants and WIC staff to identify additional ways to serve potential and current participants.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as required.
Position Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma, E.D. or equivalent.
- 6 (six) months or more of call center or front office health care
- 6 (six) months or more customer service experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- WIC program experience.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
