We are seeking an experienced and seasoned Technical Writer to support the rebranding and North American launch of a newly acquired sauna product line. This role involves creating detailed installation guides and product documentation from scratch, tailored for end-users and installers who may not have prior experience with these specific products. The ideal candidate will be skilled at developing clear, precise technical content within a manufacturing or highly technical product environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop comprehensive, user-friendly installation and product manuals for sauna kits and components.

Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and product teams both locally and internationally (notably with teams in Germany) to gather necessary technical information, photos, videos, and other documentation resources.

Adapt and align documentation with brand style guidelines while being flexible in authoring tools and processes.

Manage documentation projects independently to meet tight deadlines without impacting other departmental priorities.

Ensure documents meet quality standards suitable for end customers and align with brand expectations.

Use tools such as Adobe InDesign or FrameMaker for document creation; familiarity with XML/ DITA a plus

Coordinate communication and participate in video calls across different time zones as needed to access and clarify product details.
Qualifications:
-
5+ years of experience as a Technical Writer in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably with installation or assembly guides.

Strong ability to think both within established brand guidelines and creatively to streamline documentation processes.

Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing projects within tight timelines.

Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Sharepoint, FrameMaker, or similar desktop publishing tools.

Ability to work independently and handle full-time hours remotely with some flexibility for early or late meetings to accommodate international teams.

Exceptional communication skills and the ability to request and clarify technical information effectively.

Experience working with hardware or complex mechanical product documentation preferred; software technical writing alone is insufficient.

Ready to use own laptop and software tools to ensure rapid project ramp-up.
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $40-50/hr. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
