Department Summary

The College of Continuing Studies offers access to Bridgewater State University by providing pathways to degrees, credentials for post-traditional students, and noncredit professional, corporate, and community education programs. Position Summary

As part of the High School Programs Team within the College of Continuing Studies at Bridgewater State University, the Dual Enrollment and Early College Counselor is responsible for day-to-day programmatic support of our Dual Enrollment and Early College programs. The counselor will be committed to extraordinary customer service for all prospective and current students, university and partner school staff and faculty to ensure that both the Dual Enrollment and Early College programs provide accessible, equitable, and inclusive higher education experiences to current high school students.

The counselor will be responsible for assisting high school students with completing the proper enrollment applications, processing applications, ensuring students receive BSU credentials, follow up with partner school liaisons, third-party partners, students, and staff to ensure students have access to technology and other academic resources necessary for success. This person will work with internal and external partners to ensure students are registered for appropriate classes, receive support services from the University as needed, and work with students and faculty on technology and access issues. Duties will also include quality control and error resolution of applications, recruitment activities and events, and enrollment events both on and off site.

As a member of the College of Continuing Studies (CCS) Team, the Dual Enrollment and Early College Counselor will assist in office coverage, including our reception desk, phones, and general email accounts on an as needed basis.

Essential Duties

1. Recruitment and Advising
a. Act as liaison with partner schools to assess concurrent enrollment programs and student needs.
b. Provide academic planning support to concurrent enrollment students.
c. Maintain regular communication with the appropriate administrative teams at partner schools.
d. Disseminate program information to potential students, families, and partner schools as needed.
e. Maintain student application files, track applications, and ensure up to date information in the University's CRM and SIS systems.

2. Student Support
a. Act as student support coordinator for concurrent enrollment students and coordinate third-party partner services for students.
b. Act as concurrent enrollment liaison with university service offices to coordinate support services for students.
c. Facilitate onboarding activities for concurrent enrollment students on and off campus.
d. Engage in local travel and some evening work to facilitate onboarding and educational workshops about post-secondary enrollment.
e. Support students in navigating the University's technology platforms including, but not limited to, accessing the BSU Student Portal, Student Profile, Degree Works, BridgeNet, Blackboard, and other technology platforms as they become available.
f. Assist students with the use of the InfoBear registration system, registering for classes, and other administrative tasks necessary for registration and enrollment.

3. Data Entry and Management
a. Perform data entry tasks to ensure accurate and timely input of student information into the University's systems.
b. Coordinate and assist with processing of concurrent enrollment applications and assist with processing of concurrent enrollment registration.
c. Manage and maintain databases, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
d. Generate reports and provide data analysis to support students and programs.
g. Maintain accurate and up-to-date course rosters and student records.

4. Access, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
a. Demonstrate sensitivity and commitment to issues of access, diversity, equity, and inclusion in all interactions with prospective students, their families, partner schools, and campus colleagues.
b. Assist in the preparation and updating of recruitment communication plans specific to underserved students including printed materials, webpages, and other electronic communication platforms.
c. Provide support to encourage a college-going culture and develop college success skills for students that have historically been underrepresented on college campuses.

5. Additional Responsibilities:
a. Assist the Dean and Director of College of Continuing Studies (CCS) Admissions with strategic planning for concurrent enrollment programming.
b. Assist with concurrent enrollment communications and events with undergraduate admissions office.
c. Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

1 Bachelor's degree.
2. An understanding of the principles, practices, and procedures of activities to support student success.
3 A dedication to access, diversity, equity and inclusion in education.
4 Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, organization skills and attention to detail are required, as is flexibility.
5. Ability to work within a diverse community and represent the organization professionally.
6. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
7. Ability to engage in some evening and weekend work.
8. Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation for local travel.
9. Ability to lift and carry 30 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Bilingual or Multi-lingual.
  2. Enthusiasm for the mission of public higher education
  3. Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility.
  4. Knowledge of the Mass Transfer Program, MyCAP, and Mass Core.
