Full Job Description

Overview

Chick-fil-A, Inc. has a stated intent to expand business interests in Canada, Puerto Rico and to the EMEA and APAC regions. As a result, Chick-fil-A is seeking a Sr. React Native Engineer to build custom solutions for our International Technology Ecosystem. The International Technology Ecosystem team currently operates as a start-up within an Enterprise.

As we grow internationally, you'll play a crucial role in developing custom solutions tailored to global markets. Your responsibilities will include creating proof-of-concepts, architecture within React or React Native applications, and delivering robust technical solutions that meet the specific needs of our international business operations.

In this role, you'll be responsible for delivering high quality code and contributing to the overall code standards of the project. You'll collaborate closely with our Front-End Architect to design and build robust front-end applications. You'll also have access to key stakeholders-including Outcome Owners, Enterprise, Solution, and Data Architects-to support your work and help drive success.

The role will report to the Engineering Leader for International Solutions in Entity Technology Solutions and will partner closely with other engineering leaders within the Digital Transformation and Technology (DTT) department.

Our Flexible Future model offers a healthy mix of working in person and virtually, strengthening key elements of the Chick-fil-A culture by fostering collaboration and community.

Responsibilities

  • Experience delivering production solutions in React on the web and React Native, especially via Expo using TypeScript.
  • Comfortable being able to switch between writing TypeScript on the front-end (React, React Native) and back-end (Bun, Node.js, or similar) to solve problems and deliver value.
  • Design and build Proof-of-Concept solutions to discover what the overall strategy and approach should be for International Solutions.
  • Design and specify the required solution based on requirements received from the product owner.
  • Interview, and on-board contract software engineers alongside the front-end architect.
  • Collaborate with partner engineering teams: challenge them to leverage best practices, help to solve knotty problems, review code, and share stories.
  • Review the partner's progress to ensure it is meeting requirements, Chick-fil-A engineering standards, deadlines, and SLAs.
  • Identify & propose emerging software engineering technologies, methodologies and/or approaches.

The Entity Technology Solutions team is focused on delivering digital technology experiences that power the Business capabilities behind Chick-fil-A's international expansion. Our work spans a variety of solution areas, including Point of Sale, Commerce Experiences, Financial Services, Restaurant ERP, and more. Projects in this role will typically align with one or more of these domains, offering opportunities to contribute to critical systems that support our global growth.

Note - Working in a DevOps model, this opportunity includes both building and running solutions that could require off hours support. This support is shared amongst the team members to cover weekends and weeknights. The goal is to design for failure and, using cloud-native infrastructure patterns, automate responses to possible issues so they can be worked during normal hours.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience delivering production solutions in both React and React Native
  • Experience using Expo to develop and deploy React Native apps
  • Ability to assess React ecosystem libraries and patterns, recommend choices for a given use case, and set up working systems with them.
  • Broad and deep programming experience in modern software development languages, including TypeScript specifically.
  • Experience working with an agile development methodology featuring sprints, points estimation, and daily standups.
  • Familiarity with version control systems and code merging/branching; specific experience with git desirable.
  • Experience providing guidance and accountability to other React engineers
  • Proven ability to positively influence the engineering culture and practices in a professional environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading engineering teams, including good interpersonal and team collaboration skills as well as demonstrated ability to drive for quality results.
  • Experience contributing to server-side TypeScript codebases (Bun, Next.js, Node.js)
  • Experience working with Expo Web or React Native for Web
  • Experience with TDD, CI/CD, agile, Kanban, or similar software development practices. Especially, Maestro experience.
