Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Space Sector is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer to join our team in Schriever Space Force Base (SSFB), in Colorado Springs, CO. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Specialized Warfighter Development Contract (SWDC) on the Warfighter Simulations and Services (WSS) Agile Release Train (ART). The WSS ART offers opportunities to support the U.S. Missile Defense System through the development of Modeling and Simulation applications used in warfighter training and exercises, concept evaluation, developmental engineering, testing and verification, and assessment.
Position Overview:  
As part of the SWDC program, the WSS team offers opportunities to support the U.S. Missile Defense System through the development of Modeling and Simulation applications used in warfighter training and exercises, concept evaluation, developmental engineering, testing and verification, and assessment.
The selected Senior Principal Software Engineer will support the Missile Defense Space Warning Tool (MDST) project as part of the WSS team.  Candidate will design, develop, test, document, and integrate features using C++ and/or Java programming language hosted on a Linux operating system. 
Primary responsibilities include designing and developing software to model various Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) element capabilities.  Additional responsibilities could include interfacing with MDST customers and presenting technical briefings to MDST stakeholders.
The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, 6 years with a Master's Degree, or 4 years with a PhD.
• Proficiency developing software in object-oriented programming languages such as C, C++, and Java.
• Proficiency in Java or C++ in a Linux environment.
• Experience with all aspects of software development life cycle.
• Experience in Atlassian Tool Suite
• Proficient in software development, including analysis, design, code, test and integration.
• Problem solving skills to develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
• Experience in agile software development methodologies like Scrum or Kanban.  Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
• Strong, written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical teams and customer personnel.
• Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs.
• Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government security clearance at the DoD secret level
Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• Knowledge or experience in several of the following: missile defense domain knowledge, infrared space surveillance, and modeling and simulation development. 
Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
